We had the good fortune of connecting with Halie Behr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Halie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is staying true to my authentic self. I stay true to who I am and my personality, recognizing my strengths and acting on them.

What should our readers know about your business?
I went to auctioneer school at just 15 years old and realized right then I was destined to be an auctioneer. I went to college and got a degree in Hospitality Management and then moved West to Colorado to follow my dream of running my own auction business. I started Halie Behr Fundaneer LLC in January 2019 and was conducting about 20-30 fundraising auctions and working one car auction a week while also working a 9-5 job. I then created and am the founder of Behr Benefits in October of 2021 and have my sister and a few others working under me as an auctioneer. I now conduct close to 70 fundraising auctions a year and work another car sale in Dallas every week.

I work in a male-dominated industry and am one of the best in the world at what I do conducing fundraising auctions (not to be braggadocios). What sets my company apart is the energy I bring and ability to conduct with buyers and sellers in a genuine, good-natured way.

I am most proud of the money we have raised for various charities including The Special Forces Foundation, OneGoat Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Children’s Diabetes Foundation, Valley Christian School, Risen Christ, and many others. I am also very proud of the strong client relationships I have built along with my good reputation.

I worked my ass off and never gave up. When I want something, I go after it and do not stop. I am a persistent bugger. I worked a 9-5 job with a crazy boss that I did not care for to pay my bills as I built up my business and clientele. I just kept thinking of the big picture and long term goal I had. I just kept pushing forward with new ideas and making new connections. Every new auction I got gave me a little extra push and will power to keep going.

The lessons I have learned include:
-If you have a desire to accomplish something- you will do it or die trying!
-When you follow what you are passionate about, it really just feels like living the dream. I do not feel like it is work at all.
-Take care of your business! Sometimes you can get so bogged down with helping others that you hurt yourself.
-Get the money!!!
-Show your heart and be true to who you are.

All I want the world to know is that I found my passion early in life and had a dream and a desire to live out that passion. I always looked at the big picture and had a deep focus to make it happen, and in a few short years it all came together. As long as you have desire, faith, and the focus, you can accomplish anything!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a HUGE planner. I would have it all planned out with an itinerary of the festivities we would take part in. Restaurant and bar hopping of course, maybe some sight seeing and a hike included. I love Cherry Creek personally and would want to go there to check out Perch, Garbarini, Sol, Cherry Cricket, Kona Grill, and all the hot spots down there. I love going to Whiskey Row, Tailgate, or Happy Camper, or View House for some drinks. For hiking I like Garden of the Gods, Broadmoor Falls, or anything in Golden. Golden is such a fun town.

Riding scooters downtown around 16th St. Mall is always fun.

I also could be up for a mountain town. I love the activity in Vail, Breck, or Crested Butte.

The world is our oyster and Colorado is a mecca for fun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wow- so many and much of it I equate to luck. -I was lucky to have my grandpa push me into going to auctioneer school at such a young age.
-I was lucky & grateful to have my uncle (who is also an auctioneer) encourage me & connect me with so many amazing mentors.
-I am grateful for the timely encounters I got with three amazing fundraising auctioneer mentors- Letitia Frye, Kristine Fladeboe, & Gary Corbett.
-It was luck when I made the transition to become an auto auctioneer and was connected and mentored under one of the best auctioneers in the world- Terry Elson.
-I am grateful for my parents for instilling passion, desire, work ethic, and perseverance in me.
-I am beyond grateful for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with the skills to be an auctioneer and helping me to find my passion so early in life.
-I thank countless other auctioneer mentors and friends like John Nicholls, Dave Webb, Dean Gunter, Dustin Taylor, Lynne Zink, Shawn Hagler, and so many others who have helped me, supported me, and given me a chance.
