We had the good fortune of connecting with Halley Stocks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Halley, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
After 8 years working as a physical therapist in a traditional medical model, I wanted to be able to help my clients with more!
While they may have come to me initially for elbow or neck pain, they would tell me all about their lives and struggles. They would share about their depression, anxiety, low energy, weight gain, relationship and career issues, poor self esteem, high stress, lack of discipline, and so much more. Knowing the role that exercise, nutrition, and an ownership mindset played in transforming my own life, I knew I could do more to help and thus my coaching business was born.

What should our readers know about your business?
Primal Link Health Coaching was my first brand and through this company, I had the pleasure of working with a wide range of clients, both men and women of different ages, helping them to build physical and mental strength and confidence, to manage their emotions and stress, to lose weight, and to understand their body’s nutritional needs and fuel properly. My clients were able to build a life they were really proud of and it was awesome to play a role in that! Over time, I realized my greatest passion really lie in coaching women, and especially those who love the outdoors and rock climbing as much as I do. With my 21 years of climbing experience and climbing more than 75 routes graded harder than 5.13a, I decided to offer climbing coaching as an adjust to the health and mindset coaching I was already doing and launched “Grace and Grit Climbing,” a company whose mission statement is to “empower women to build physical and mental strength and resilience to crush climbing goals, overcome adversity, and build a life of confidence, health, and abundance.”
Building a business is anything but easy and anyone that tells you otherwise is lying or just crazy lucky. Some of the most powerful lessons I’ve learned are:

+Embrace failure as an opportunity to learn and grow and as a necessary step in the process to success.
+Don’t try to please everyone or control their thoughts, feelings, and/or emotions. Let them be them, and you be you.
Control what you can control, which is YOUR thoughts and your actions.

What really sets my brand apart is the individualized plan and care you will receive to truly help you overcome what’s been holding you back and implement a plan to transform your life. There are a million free workouts and meal plans on the internet so if all you needed was macros and sets and reps, you’d already be where you want to be.

But what you really need is to breakdown your limiting beliefs and start implementing a step by step plan, with accountability and mindset coaching to put a plan into action, to stay consistent, and to finally start feeling the best you’ve felt in years.

What you get is the opportunity to work one-on-one with me, a woman, just like you, who’s busy and has real life responsibilities. I’ve been through an eating disorder, graduated from college and grad school, worked the 12+ hour days in the clinic plus a side job to pay the bills, completed century bike rides, climbed 5.13, hiked more than 1/2 the 14 thousand foot peaks in Colorado and started a business. I am also a wife, a sister, an aunt, and am pregnant with my first child at 39 and excited to start my family.

I understand that you are human and while you may not aspire to climb 5.13, you most like DO aspire to be healthy and strong today and long enough to play with your grandchildren someday and my mission is to help you achieve those present goals but also to build the habits that will allow you to live your life to the fullest, well into the future.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man! Well, we would have to include an early morning sunrise hike up Sanitas, my favorite morning hike, followed by breakfast at The Walnut Cafe in Boulder. Then maybe a casual stroll down Pearl Street to poke around shops and experience downtown Boulder.

We would have to climb at least one area in the Flatirons, my favorite local sport climbing and probably dinner at Buddha Thai. We would need to try to squeeze in a 14er or two, so maybe Grays and Torreys or maybe even drive to Salida and do a peak in the Collegiate range and then go rafting down Browns Canyon! It would be great to see a show at Red Rocks and brunch at The Cow Eatery in Morrison. So much to do and so little time, but we would certainly be running around in the mountains as much as possible and eating delicious food in between!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my husband for his eternal love, support, and encouragement of me and my dream to be an entrepreneur and coach. Additional shoutouts to professional athletes, podcasters, and entrepreneurs like Cameron Hanes, David Goggins, Alex and Leila Hormozi for their relentless mental strength, dedication, and wisdom to work hard, use failure to learn and grow, and never stop hammering.
