We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Rubin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
“Half Baked Bus” was inspired by my desire to create a company “for the HIPPIE in all of us.” I bought a 1960’s vintage 32 foot bus on Craigslist. I had a plan to convert the red bus into a green and black hippie Half Baked Bus. What started as a bus became our company mascot and inspired our products and event offerings. The Half Baked Bus became the model for a mobile made in North America smoke shop and an emblem of van life.

When creating my product line, I wanted the bus to act as inspiration. I also strived to have anyone using my products associate them with the Half Baked Bus. I strategically placed my logo on most products. I modeled our award winning subscription boxes after our converted hippie bus. As I developed my own business, I strove to support local artisans by offering handmade lifestyle products, such as patches, a rolling tray, and a recycled rubber dab matt, all inspired by the bus.

When planning my own wedding in 2019, I noticed a lack of weed wedding services. I expanded the business to include wedding and event budtending in Canada and American states with legalized cannabis. I modeled it all to look like the Half Baked Bus. Our handmade ceramic pipes, cannabis topical bar, bus photo booth with hippie photo props, are turning event budtending into an experience for the HIPPIE in all of us.

During the pandemic, we started hosting online stoner bingo with gift boxes as prizes. It was such a hit that we now offer online stoner bingo regularly, both online and in-person for private events. Half Baked Bus offers unique crafting events, such as paint your own pipe, make your own CBD topicals, and make your own Half Baked Bus pillow. As Half Baked Bus expands, I join forces with my brand ambassadors to help stoners everywhere roll into the high life.
