We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Brick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business was always something I knew I would do. I wanted to have the flexibility to be with my children when I wanted to be and make my work schedule around them. I wanted to create a space I could put all of heart into and call my own. I had no idea what I was doing when I first started but I knew I had to go all in right from the start and that’s just what I did. Starting my own business was the best thing I have done.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Before I studied massage therapy and bodywork I studied psychology. I have studied trauma and it’s effects on our bodies, emotions, mental health, and relationships. While studying massage therapy I realized bodywork address not only muscles but also our nervous system. I integrate muscle tension relief with nervous system work to holistically address the whole person. It has not been an easy journey to where I am now but it has been worth it. I have learned to be authentically myself…that is what people want in a massage therapist. They want someone they connect with and trust. Every time I get wrapped up in the business side of my practice I remember that taking the time to connect with people is what really matters. We all need more human connection…it heals so many things.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Every time I have someone come visit me in Fort Collins I have a list of musts! The first would be to visit some of my favorite breakfast spots. These include The Silver Grill or the Rainbow Cafe. They have amazing food and I love their out door seating. Another must do is making a visit to Horsetooth. Whether we want to take a hike and see the waterfall, make it to the top of Horsetooth Rock or spend some time on the water this is a fun relaxing time. Visiting Old Town square is another must. It is so beautiful with many places to shop and eat.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want dedicate my shoutout and my success to my daughters, Lucy and Chloe. They have been my inspiration from the beginning and continue to inspire me everyday. They are the reason I keep working so hard.
