We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Gray and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The single most important factor contributing to my success has been my unwavering determination to never give up. There were countless moments when I felt like quitting, but my husband’s constant support played a crucial role in keeping me grounded and focused. It seemed like his part-time job was to ensure my head stayed screwed on straight, especially during the tough times when giving up felt like the easier option.
The ups and downs can be particularly challenging in the beginning, testing your resolve at every turn. However, perseverance is key. You have to stick with it, even when the path ahead seems daunting. Staying committed and pushing through the tough times has made all the difference in my journey.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I recently ventured into stand-up comedy with the goal of educating, inspiring, and raising awareness about serious issues like trauma, chronic disease, and Lyme disease—all while making people laugh. This journey has been one of the toughest challenges I’ve ever undertaken, but it has also been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Balancing humor with sensitive topics is no easy feat, but the impact and connection I’ve been able to make with audiences make it all worthwhile.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
You have to check out Cave Girl Cafe in Longmont, Grace Yoga in Loveland, and get to a Mom’s Unhinged show where you can.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Dr Diane Mueller for being a friend and mentor, Mary Agnus and Hannah Crumb, and all my friends at Mindshare, The Dames, and FDN for being such an amazing support system. So so many people. It takes a village
