We had the good fortune of connecting with Heaven Phillips and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heaven, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
The most important decision that I always refer back to, is to never be afraid to take a risk and possibly fail. Being afraid to fail kelp me from actually starting my business a long time ago.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from other Cake Designers is that I’m self taught. I’ve never taken a cake class of any kind. I saw a lack in my family’s financial situation and decided to allow my vision to make a way for my family.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly for me, anywhere I’m around my husband and kids, is where I have the most fun and make the most memorable memories.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I honestly couldn’t thank anyone else other than God and my mommy. I had this vision years ago. My mom brought me my first mixer, set of cake pans, and told me to go after my dreams! I owe her everything.
