We had the good fortune of connecting with iies. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi iies., Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
“iies.” (Pronounced eyes) is based on the concept of perspective; this is the most important principle. Sharing, contributing, and developing your own perspective is the core value and is “iies.” in its entirety.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Currently we are hyped! Within The iies. Collective we have been cultivating our own style of music lately, what we call “Experimental Jazz Rap”. This style of music incorporates many different genre elements such as: rock, acid jazz, funk, Latin – from the sporadic fluctuations of jazz, to the melodic rhythms of folk/Latin wrapped up with the dynamic heartfelt words of hip hop. We have been finding the process for this body of music slowly and expect to drop music soon within this year so watch out for our updates via social media or our live shows.

I would also reinstate to follow our journey as the story is still unfolding and we have just begun. There is much to be told and we plan to unfold it as we grow, so grow with us and be a part of what we call the Fam(iie)ly.

Some challenges lately have been balancing all of the intricacy that comes with the music business and everyday life. We will be touching on all most of these subjects in upcoming projects. A lesson and a piece of advice for those reading this is trust in the universe/god or simply your gut. things have strangely fallen into place slowly when we all did this.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a best friend was visiting this area for the first time and was apart of a day with “iies.” we would have to take them within the music scene of Denver! Our musical night life is grand and flavorful and if you know the right people you can find yourself in the right situation at the right time and be in a world of amazing energy and liveliness. Whether a house gig with SaltLick Records (a dope music label that host jams) or a jam session with PIB (People in-between, a great local band that host jam sessions as well) their is no doubt that this is were I along with the iies. collective will take anyone that we considered a friend.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes of course!

The story of “iies.” would be nothing without the great few who contributed to this vision and helped nurture it into reality. Much appreciation, love, and gratitude goes out to those who have helped whether be it girlfriends, friends, local bands, parents, siblings or spirit guides. You all do not go unrecognized for all your dyer efforts.

It is important to also highlight the “The iies. Collective” who consist of band members and team members of iies. who all make this creative organization possible at iies.co.
