We had the good fortune of connecting with Irete Hamdani and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Irete, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
askBelynda was founded as a result of our personal journey to a more sustainable lifestyle. We are all becoming increasingly environmentally aware, and this impacts our decision-making when purchasing products or services. Researching how eco-friendly a product or service is, requires time, expertise and effort – something the average shopper doesn’t have. Consumers are missing a quick, identifiable, trustworthy way at the point of sale to understand how sustainable their purchase is.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I worked for 25 years in a large corporate spanning various roles and technologies – Software Development, Solution Architecture, Pre Sale, Product Management and Business Operations before founding my own startup. The journey is exciting and empowering.

I believe the following sets me apart from others:

1. I have the right vision for askBelynda to be a successful, profitable and valuable company.

2. I have the right tech experience for askBelynda to reach the ambitious goal of becoming the largest database of sustainable products in the world, changing the buying patterns as we know them today.

3. I am passionate about the environment and doing good for the planet.

4. I’m surrounding myself with the right people and teams to get the best results within a limited budget.

5. I believe I can achieve anything I set my mind to. This is very powerful. Almost everything I’m doing with askBelynda is new to me but I don’t find this daunting, I rise to the daily challenges and celebrate the small wins along the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many! For a week long trip definitely hiking would be on the list. Some of my favorite trails are in Rocky Mountain National Park. St. Mary’s Glacier is also on my list.

Going out I’d take them to:
1. Meow Wolf
2. Upstairs Circus
3. Restaurants – True Food Kitchen, Sushi Den, Root Down, Uno Mas, Avanti
4. Confluence Park
5. MCA
6. Sante Fe First Friday’s Art Walk
