We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaiah Korpita and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isaiah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I loved rockhounding and I had been making jewelry for the past couple of years, and the two hobbies collided to make my business.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My jewelry is all hand wrapped, I have improved my skills incredibly as my business has grown immensely. My jewelry is inspired by the mountains and towns that I’ve visited throughout my career. Whenever I find a gem at a certain place I make sure that the jewelry retains inspiration from the surrounding area.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Colorado Springs for its scenery the Garden of the Gods and Palmer park are both visit you must make in a lifetime.
A perfect Saturday in the Springs would start with an early hike somewhere scenic followed by coffee and breakfast at Wayfinder coffee. Than a visit to the Black Forest farmers market would be a must (plus you could visit me) than eating at the food trucks at Woodmen and Powers. The afternoon would be saved for going to the US Olympic and Paralympic museum and garden of the gods. Finish the day off with dinner at Hops and Drops.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Grandpa is the one who got me into rockhounding, we would go on trips to the mountains weekly and he helped me start the business.
