Meet Jahna Church | UX Designer & Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jahna Church and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jahna, what is the most important factor behind your success?
For me, besides consistency and goal-setting, I attribute a lot of my success this far to staying true to myself and the messages I want to share through my work. By doing that, I have attracted wonderful people into my life and improved my business’s identity.

Since I have learned about myself and the woman I want to be, I continuously feel encouraged and supported by others when I am my authentic self. And because of that, I am far more confident and driven to speak my truth and use my art as a microphone for activism. I’ve been grateful to realize that a lot of people are willing to listen when the message is coming from an empathetic place that encourages solidarity, understanding, and love.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Most of my work is inspired by feminism, diversity, and nature. I also get a lot of inspiration from music and poetry. I think what makes me stand out is my confidence in speaking out about issues that matter and using my art to do so. I’m so proud to be able to use my art to speak on important social topics. I think all the support I’ve gotten–especially over the last year–has kept me motivated to keep creating, which in turn fuels my business. If there’s anything I want the world to know about my brand or story, it’s that all of this is for them. My brand is meant to shed light on the importance of standing together and standing up for those who need it most.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The wonderful thing about living in Denver is having access to the mountains and a night out in the city all in one day if you wanted to. Whenever I have a visitor in town, I love to bring them to Golden for a light hike, a stroll around Clear Creek, and lunch at any of the wonderful dining options there. In Denver, I always recommend checking out the Arts District for mural paintings, museums, restaurants, and bars. That’s just a very tiny piece of what Denver has to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am incredibly lucky to have amazing friends and family who encourage and support me. But I’d also like to honor all the people who have worked tirelessly and selflessly for the betterment of our society. I’d like to give a shoutout to the organizations, activists, and community members that are still seeking justice for the tragedies that are no longer making mainstream news and flooding our social media feeds. My love goes out to them.
