We had the good fortune of connecting with Jake Streissguth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jake, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think taking risks in business is a critical part of running one. Without taking the risk to put yourself out into the world to provide a service, you can’t make any money. Without risking that you’ll fail, you’ll never learn to succeed. I believe that I was ready to risk everything in order to be successful. Personal life, Reputation, free-time, or whatever it took to be successful.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have dedicated my business to fighting the stereotypes of failure in my field. Whether it be, answering or responding to clients within a timely manner, or being consistent with scheduling and appointment times, as well as staying true to the culture and putting clients and their animals first. I do whatever it takes to provide a high-quality service to my clients above all else.

Challenges in this field come in all shapes and sizes. Big, small, mini, or long eared. Two legs or four, things happen, and I always have to be ready and flexible to accommodate for my the success of my business, and satisfaction of clients. Rain, shine, sleet or snow, Circle S Horseshoeing is ready to work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve always wanted to show my best friend the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden. So much rich history and innovative technology in one place. So many years, I’ve had family enjoy the Denver Stock Show, and all it has to offer for the Denver area and nationwide. I’ve also had the great opportunity to live and work up in the Colorado Rockies in Grand County for a few years. That whole area is a spectacle to behold. Miles of untouched earth, with the same views seen by settlers on the Oregon Trail.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am very fortunate to have had many mentors through my lifetime. Most notably, my uncle Steve, aunt Kay, horseshoeing mentor Dave Holland, Charlie Cox, and many more. I wouldn’t be the person or in the position I’m in now, without their wisdom, support, and patience.
