Meet Jana Strueh And Andrew Strueh | We are Cocoon Design LLC

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jana Strueh And Andrew Strueh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jana Strueh and Andrew Strueh, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business has been a long-time dream of me and my husband. After moving from Germany to the U.S., we felt it was the perfect opportunity to pursue this goal.
Despite my extensive experience in architecture, I found it challenging to secure a job in the U.S., as many employers were hesitant to give me a chance to showcase my skills. This situation fueled my determination to established our own design firm, where I could not only demonstrate my capabilities but also create opportunities for others in similar situations.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Proud and Excited About:
We are most proud and excited about the journey we’ve undertaken to build Cocoon Design LLC from the ground up. It’s a culmination of years of experience, creativity, and the realization of a long-held dream. Seeing our vision take shape and knowing that we’re creating spaces that reflect both beauty and functionality gives us immense satisfaction.
Easy and Challenging Aspects:
What comes naturally to me (Jana) is the design process—bringing ideas to life and translating a client’s needs into a tangible, beautiful space. The challenge, however, lies in navigating the transition to the U.S. market. Starting over in a new country with different regulations, standards, and market dynamics has been daunting, but it has also pushed me to grow in unexpected ways.
Lessons Learned Along the Way:
We’ve learned that persistence is key, especially when faced with obstacles. The move from Germany to the U.S. taught us resilience, and starting our own business taught us the importance of patience and adaptability. Each challenge has reinforced our belief in the value of hard work and the power of staying true to one’s vision. Never give up!
What I Want the World to Know:
Cocoon Design LLC is not just a business; it’s a reflection of our journey, our dreams, and my passion for creating spaces that inspire. Our story is one of determination and creativity—of embracing challenges and turning them into opportunities. I want the world to see Cocoon Design as a brand that values authenticity, innovation, and the transformative power of great design. We want that our clients have the feeling again being at home, where they are protected, safe and feel constable again in their own space.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For Lunch I would take them to Toastique. This is my favorite place to work and eat for lunch
We definitely would do a few hikes maybe the flatirons in Boulder and the Emerald Lake hike in the Rocky Mountain National Park.
Definitiv watching a baseball game or football game.
Because we are a outdoor family we would go rafting and climbing in the Clear Creek Canyon, maybe Zip lining in Colorado Springs.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
For us the people who supported us most is my family, because they listen all the time what I or we have to say and supported us with the dream of our own company.
But also our friends here in the U.S. who gave us advices what we should try and how we should do it, because they have their own company.
