We had the good fortune of connecting with Jared Russell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jared, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking plays an important role in the success of any entrepreneurs career but should not be taken lightly. Throughout my career and self-employment, I have been faced with many difficult decisions. I believe that risk taking, especially taking big risks, has helped me reach success because I take the time to research and strategize the project more thoroughly. I will say that I have taken risks to build or expand my business that have not work out as I planned, but I learn the most in these situations. When all is said and done, the business is re structured or formatted and the end result is almost always positive.

What should our readers know about your business?
The first company I created from the ground up was Innovation Motorsports, a local motorcycle repair, custom builds and sales of motorcycles. I always had a passion for riding and racing motorcycles so straight out of high school I starting buying damaged motorcycles, fixing them and selling them for a profit. A challenge I had to overcome was learning how to repair the motorcycles with out any schooling of doing so. I started doing this by watching you tube videos and working on my race motorcycle and family and friends motorcycles. What set my shop apart from others was the personability. I took the time to hear the customers needs, only fix what needed to be fixed and documenting with photos of all repairs.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am very grateful for the guidance I have received from my father John Russell who has been self employed his whole life, running a business for 42years.

I also had the book rich dad poor dad inspire me to always structure my companies and life to make money with the money they have not just by the work.
