We had the good fortune of connecting with Jassmyn Mcleary-Strode and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jassmyn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Back in December of 2019 I had just had my son, I was feeling down about my body not being the same, trying to learn my baby and being a new mom was tough. Fast forward a few months we break out into a pandemic the world pretty much shuts down! People all over the world losing jobs, not knowing how they are going to pay their bills, no more social events. So I started this group to uplift women and to help women understand that we are all in this together! We are an organization that focuses on empowering women from all over the world and embracing our different experiences. The goal is to empower each other through a series of workshops, events, activities, community involvement and volunteering. We operate as a sisterhood and encourage each other through different life changes by practicing positivity, optimism, manifestation, and other life changing skills.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Women Understanding Women has grown into an impactful Community Group. We emphasize transparency in everything we do, setting bold goals and pursuing a clear strategy that seeks to move the needle. What sets us apart from others is that we are constantly growing and looking to expand in many different ways. Women Understanding Women grew rapidly with a great following of over 2400 members, what got us here was that we never gave up on each other, in the group we really stand firm on being a safe zone community and judgment free. Clear rules and boundaries are set in the group which each woman has to vow to obey before coming a member. We operate our organization in a way that is beneficial and safe for all members which has left us an amazing and professional reputation. Everything has its ups and downs and they were times when the group started to decline because everyone has a life and everyone has responsibilities but when we made this group a priority and really pushed to make it apart of our lives I noticed a major change and shift in the group. I’ve learned how important it is to be in this role, to be apart of something that is so life changing, I have learned so many different things from all of these women in the group and it’s amazing to see how it grows and to welcome so many amazing women. We invite the world to learn more about how you can make an impact and become apart of this amazing group of women. Women Understanding Women is a group to help women gain an understanding of each other, where we can discuss issues that we all encounter and form a support system. We are able to collect feedback, influence, educate and discuss our thoughts, beliefs and ideas. We are women sharing our stories and experiences all over the world!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite places to visit in Colorado is Denver is so much to do and see, I love the vibe and I love to explore and see different things. I’m really making it a point this summer to explore Colorado and to experience the different food, scenery and getting to see more of Colorado than I have.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my beautiful admins Brionna Strode and Angelique Jovian who is an amazing leader, and entrepreneur of a successful and beautiful online jewelry boutique called The 489 Collection. These beautiful ladies help me to administer the group and moderate what goes on. We will all be working closely together to start new things within the group such as workshops, virtual game nights, and other virtual events during the pandemic. Hopefully once the pandemic is over we can begin to branch out and really get into the community and volunteer and host live events. They help me with getting content out into the group and also do their own things within the group. For example Ms. Angelique Jovan has started a segment within the group called Auntie Chronicles, and Ms. Brionna Strode and I will be discussing some ideas for her to bring into the group as well.
