We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Cox and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
At the time I started my business, I worked in a Corporate Massage setting where, Therapists were underpaid, overworked and underappreciated. I also wanted to make Massage Therapy more affordable for everyone. So by starting my own business I was able to Create a better environment for Clients and Therapists alike, while charging Clients less and paying Therapists more. At A Kneaded Touch we schedule extra time to each appointment to give our Clients more time to get dressed, get some water and ask their Therapist any questions they may have, this also gives our Therapists a little bit of built in down time between sessions. Our Therapists are allowed to work independently and are given flexibility when it comes to their scheduling needs or scheduling needs of their clients. Unlike most Corporate settings, Clients and Therapists can communicate directly to work out scheduling needs that work for both. All in All I’m just focused on creating a better standard for the Massage Industry,
What should our readers know about your business?
We are a Private Practice Massage Therapy Business. I am very proud to be approaching our 7th Year in Business. I had no idea how to “run” a Business when I started A Kneaded Touch, I did know that I had a vision for what I could do better than the Business I was employed for at the time. So I jumped in, rented a room in an office and began learning as I went. I made mistakes along the way and had success along the way. We’ve now grown from one room in a shared office to our own 3 room office. I’ve learned to strategize and learn from mistakes as well as recognize my success no matter the size of the struggles I’ve faced along the way. Here at A Kneaded Touch we believe that “We all Need to be Kneaded” and are glad to share the gift of Quality Massage Therapy with the world.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would take a walk of Downtown Denver to check out and support some of the Awesome Local Small Business’s, like The Room of Lost Things. Spend an afternoon Hiking in Redrocks and checking out Dinosaur Ridge in Morrison. In the Evenings we could take in show at one of Denver’s Amazing Venues like, The Odgen, Bluebird, Gothic Theatre, or the Fillmore. I would make sure to take them to some of the Favorite Local Food Joints like, Chubbys, El Mirador, and Jim’s Burger Haven.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Family and Friends have stood by me along this Journey. Always Encouraging me and pushing me to stay focused and determined during the Highs and Lows of learning to run this Business. I would also like to Thank my Team of Therapists, Ilya Melnikov and Garrett Britton and even though she had to leave to be a mom, Whitney Bormann, for all the hard work and dedication over the years!
