Meet Jerri Doran | Shamanic Healer and Teacher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerri Doran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerri, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I am a healer and teacher who does shamanic energy work and community outreach. For my role and my work, I think I would say the most important factor to success is trust. This trust is generated by the additional qualities of integrity, authenticity, humility and genuine caring for those who seek my assistance. When individuals are in need of assistance in whatever area of their life, spiritual, physical, mental, etc., their healer/teacher must create a safe, caring space for them to open up to their own healing processes. These qualities are attributes that ideally exist for all of us in all areas of life, but are essential to my success in my role as a teacher, leader and healer.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a shaman, healer and teacher in the Peruvian Quero’ tradition of the Andes. My journey of identifying, accepting and stepping into my purpose and my gifts has been an long and gratifying process. Getting to where I am today has taken a great deal of commitment, hard work and trust in the flow of my life to take me where I am meant to be.

It has not been an easy path. I spent 12 years working in the corporate world to support my passion of the healing work before it grew enough that I could step into it full time. I have been consistently guided to push my boundaries of what I thought I could or would ever accomplish. There is a flow to life that is talked about in many belief systems. It is something that I have learned and still utilize to guide my decisions and the direction of my life and career. This trust in my instincts and stepping through doors of opportunity, of saying yes, often and with willingness to do the work have been the biggest part of how I overcome challenges.

The lessons are too numerous to count, but perhaps one of the most profound is that life has things in store for me when I am willing to say yes, that I never would have imagined myself. That there is a magic we can follow by listening to our inner guidance and incredible reward that comes from finding the courage to show up authentically and lovingly to the world. To let go of the judgements and expectations of others to follow my own self. I know that sounds a bit cliché’, but it has been a huge factor in my success and in finding joy and fulfillment in my work and my life.

I would hope the world around me views me as someone who walks the walk. That you can pursue your purpose and truly get a chance to live it. That is it not always just a pipe dream to do what you love and what you came here to do. I also hope to pass on my work and my knowledge so that generations to come can benefit.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Chaffee County Colorado is an outdoor lovers paradise. If there is something to be enjoyed in the mountains, we have it here. I would absolutely make sure they visited one of our hot springs for a soak. I would take them to House Rock Kitchen in Buena Vista and Moonlight Pizza in Salida to eat, There is a gorgeous river walk in downtown Salida and plenty of live music in the summer. Hiking, rafting and a drive over one of our many gorgeous mountain passes would be on the itinerary.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Kendara Laurel is a friend who is tireless in her efforts to support her community and it’s members. She gives freely and generously of her time to so many. Her boundless positivity, encouragement and support have been an inspiration to me for many years. Her consistent willingness to help me meet others and grow my practice, share my knowledge and experience with others is a gift I will always have deep gratitude for.
