We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Caruso and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have been a hospitality professional/consultant for about 10 years and the biggest lessons I took away were prioritization, humiliation, and communication. These, to me, are skills not everyone can master in their daily lives, and shifting over to full time Realtor, will continue to help me as I build my own brand; my own version of a “boss”… but a boss to nobody but myself. The hardest employee to have.

What should our readers know about your business?
When it comes to building a beverage program, creativity is everything. Learning and growing myself helped me teach and “water” my staff! It’s not so much about utilizing out there ingredients, or trying to “re-invent the wheel” so to speak, as it is being approachable, creating an experience that is memorable, and getting to know the guests. Shifting into my real estate career, I want to stand out in those same ways. I am always available. If I don’t have an answer, I will get an answer. My clients know they can talk to me like a friend, because I am! The only way to succeed in both of these fields, is through relationships. From staff to clients, to teachers. Many of my clients have been friends or family to start, but they all end up friends in the end. No pretension here; just goals, hard work, effort, and a lot of laughter. Real estate is a very competitive field, and I know that I stand out because I don’t ever do anything … well … half- a$$ed. I come to succeed and how lucky I am to be in a field where that success gets to be shared.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am an outdoor junkie so I would start with a hike! This of course has to have an amazing view, so we would head to Red Rocks. The view of the eastern slope amongst the rocks just can’t be beat!! Lair O The Bear and Mount Falcon are 2 more of my favorite hikes that are great introductions to those needing acclimated. Throughout the week we would also visit Golden, my favorite little town, and stop by The Golden Mill for patio drinks and some yummy sushi. I love art as well, so a visit to the Art Museum or Meow Wolf would be in order. Since the season has started, all I can think about it snowboarding! We would have to go to Arapahoe Basin, my favorite slopes, and spend the day crushing the powder or maybe just apres in the lodge. We would definitely check out some breweries, like Westbound and Down, or Denver Beer Company. Happy hour at Postino Wine Cafe is a must, as well as Barcelona Wine Bar for tapas. The RiNo Arts District is great for exploring and seeing the creative side of Denver (and catching happy hour at Mister Oso), while the LoHi neighborhood offers an old school vibe full of character in the housing and the local businesses (like Bar Dough).

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout to my husband, Matthew. When I said that I was going to transition out of the beverage world and back into Real Estate full time, he didn’t skip a beat. Without a second of hesitation his response was, YES. Do it. He helped me refocus my time, gave me my space to study and learn again, and continues to have my back every single day! I don’t know if I would’ve pushed myself as hard without having him in my corner. I’m so fortunate to have that kind of support.
