We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Stoakes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have been a stay at home mom for the past 18 years, my kids are growing up, and I felt it was time to rediscover myself and to step out of my comfort zone. My youngest daughter Harper ,who the store is named after, is one of the driving forces for me to succeed. I want to show her that women can thrive in the business world. My kids are my world, and I really struggled with finding cute, unique children’s clothes, so like every great idea I decided to bring it to northern Colorado. And thus, Harper Mae was born.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Harper Mae brings a classy unique twist to children’s boutiques. We set out from the beginning to enhance your children’s wardrobe with one of kind pieces.

The biggest struggle so far has been finding a healthy work life balance. I want to succeed in all aspects of my life. Which means being 100% present both professionally and personally. #workmomlife

I got here today with the unwavering support of my family and friends. The adventure has not been easy, but has been inspiring and enlightening. Is it every really easy?

My words of advice, If you are mom thinking about jumping head first into business, do it. Never doubt yourself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Noco has so many unique places to offer, some of my favorites are the Windsor Mill Tavern great food and vibe. The Hearth is amazing make sure you get a seat on the patio to see Windsor Lake. Don’t forget about desert, Mini Macaroons makes the best pastries and are to die for.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without the support of my family I don’t think we would be sitting here answering these questions today. My husband Levi is my greatest supporter and truly pushed me to follow this dream. Levi, I love you, thank you for being my biggest cheerleader. My kids, Hayden, Holten, Hunter, Haryson and Harper give me the strength everyday to push harder and dream bigger. And lastly, my partner in crime, my ride or die, my business partner Sam has been there from the beginning, without her Harper Mae does not look like it does today. And finally all of NoCo for the love and support in our first year.
