We had the good fortune of connecting with Jillian Thane and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jillian, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Originally, I had wanted to open and run a Dungeons and Dragons Bed and Breakfast, a D&D B&B if you will, in the foothills. The idea was that guests would be surrounded by forests and beauty and feel as though they were on a real adventure. Unfortunately, the post-COVID property prices made the project a difficult investment. So I thought the next best thing would be to build a super immersive gaming tavern. This way tabletop role playing games could be experienced as though the players were at a warm and comforting fantasy tavern. The immersion and décor at Thane’s Table allows patrons feel as though they are actually experiencing their games!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was lucky enough to go to a performing arts charter high school. At Tuacahn High School, I joined the Star Wars club and met my first gaming group. At the time, we played Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 Edition with several other students and the Club’s Advisor, Christy Hall. She inspired me to learn more about story building and that adversities for characters made for more interesting stories. At our high school, we were required to participate in technical theater which sparked the flame for my love of building sets, props, and costumes. Those skills conveniently followed me into adulthood. I have painted several murals, competed in many cosplay competitions (including at San Diego Comic Con), and continued my journey of playing TTRPGs (tabletop role playing games). It has been a wonderful and fulfilling journey!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever I have the opportunity to show Denver off to my friends, Meow Wolf is always the first on my list! I truly believe that the artists, designers, and storytellers of the immersive adventure created a jewel in Denver. I also love bringing loved ones to all the quaint downtown areas scattered throughout Denver. Some of the local businesses, such as The Cosplay Atelier, Mystic Games, and Akihabara offer so many unique experiences to Denver visitors.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Thane’s Table would not be possible without the community. When we hit permitting snags and unexpected hurdles, we reached out the Denver gaming community for assistance. The support we received was mind-blowing and re-established my faith in humanity. I was so touched by all the gamers who came out in person to offer hours of their time in labor, painting, crafting, and made the grind so much easier.
