We had the good fortune of connecting with John Robson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, what matters most to you?
My first rule of business is to have fun. If it’s not fun, then it’s not engaging, I won’t grow and I won’t produce the best work possible.

This isn’t about being frivolous. It’s meeting and interacting with interesting people, experimenting with new techniques or simply photographing something beautiful.
It’s the joy of doing the work, because I believe that when you’re genuinely engaged and having fun, you create your best work… that energy is contagious.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My greatest strength lies in my ability to capture real, authentic portraits of people and businesses that reveal who they truly are. I don’t chase the polished facade or the manufactured smile. Instead, I’ll wait for those unguarded moments, the quiet concentration of a baker, the genuine laugh shared between colleagues, the weathered hands that tell a lifetime of stories. My photographs strip away pretense to reveal character, passion, and the honest humanity that makes each person or business extraordinary.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Little on Mountain and Los Comales are always my go-to spots in Fort Collins.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Much love to Juli and Juan for giving me my first big break… and to all the photographers who can reach out to at any time.
