We had the good fortune of connecting with John Tabor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had worked for different light companies around the nation and saw the good thing they did but also some things that I felt were missing. I wanted to start my own company to be able to bring clients’ dreams to life. That part of the job is my favorite. I also like the idea of being able to choose what I get to do each day. yes, there are days that you have to do the things you don’t want but when you think you’re building your own thing you can push through it. I enjoy the challenge of building something from nothing and seeing it grow.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our company motto is ( Bringing color to your world). We love to take a boring dark stage and bring it to life. make the people on stage look natural and real and when it is broadcast around the world people can see a high class show. Also, the use of the right color on the subjects. Skin color takes light in so many ways. We pride ourselves on light people of color and making them look amazing.
Using color and moving to bring out the song or the set, Making it feel real so you think you are there. bringing the audience in so that they feel like they are part of the set. Bring their emotion out in a song… … which may mean turning off most of the lights to get the feeling that brings you in. When we are running the show we do I stop and walk the room or look around to see and feel how the audience is feeling. I have had the privilege to work with some top-notch lighting people in our industry and the one thing I have learned is that no matter how big you get you still treat people right.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Depends which friend it was 🙂 We live in Colorado so there are a lot of great places to eat and drink .. and the views and out of the world.
To start I would take them to a favorite place that makes a killer drink in Colorado Springs Called Shame and Regret.
Then some dinner at a place downtown called Jaks. The bartender knows her stuff and the food so so good.
When you are in the springs you have to go to the Garden of the Gods and take a walk around really an awesome place. Take a drive up Pike Peck and see the city from there is always fun. The people here are so friendly no matter where you are they are happy to help.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes for sure .. I’m a big fan of learning from those who have come before me. One of the books that pushed me to the next Leve was Daymond John .. Rise and grind it got me up and going each morning. I also enjoyed Terry Crew’s books and how he treats others no matter how big he gets. resent I just finished Senator Tim Scott’s book he inspired me that we do live in a great nation and that there are others that we can help. I enjoy to reading or listening to books all the time they push me to be better at what I do… I enjoy hearing the stories of other people who pushed through and made it.
