We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Chavez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create a positive change by doing my best to disrupt the realm of fast fashion. I understand the affordability and appeal of certain fast brands but the impact they have on the environment is an issue that cannot be ignored. Sustainability is my mission with Sephs Closet. I aim to breathe new life into pre-loved pieces by hand painting designs, tie dying them, or marrying both the painting and dying.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Art has always been a passion of mine and I adore fashion…but I can’t sew to save my life. I use my artistic abilities to the best that I can.

Creating is one of my favorite processes, I enjoy changing one design into something completely different…It’s like an alchemy!

I pour a-lot of love into all my pieces. No two shirts will ever look the same, every shirt is original, and that’s what makes it so special is that it is one of kind! Hand painted, tied by hand…etc. I’m there from the beginning to the end creating something that I think is cool.

I have my degree in Marketing, design is important to me, and of course sustainability is always on my mind. I got lucky with an idea that combines all these things.

It’s been a journey and support has been my life line in making this all happen.

I’d like the world to know that Sephs Closet is a multi-faceted brand that embraces all! We believe in loving all parts of yourself the good, the bad, and it’s never the ugly…it’s always the unique.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To experience something out of a movie Nocturne is a wonderful place! The food is amazing, the drinks (chefs kiss), live jazz, and candles everywhere is a dreamy way to start any adventure! It’s also in the Rhino district so after your experience at Nocturne you can walk around check out the local art and go on a little pub crawl. The Botanical gardens always hits! It is always just a beautiful place to wander through, take pictures, think, or just take in the scenery and the people.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Mom for coming with ideas, giving me endless support, and helping me find cool things to re-work. My Step-dad for helping provide the materials I need to make this possible. My Partner for always showing up to every event with me, and anchoring me when I feel nervous. Of course I would like to thank everyone and everything that has supported Sephs Closet, together we are making a difference!
