We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Firth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risks are apart of life. You either risk failing or risk regret of never trying. Now i wouldn’t advocated for the reckless indulgence of risk, but calculated risk are a must to move forward.

I would say taking risk above the norm is a very ingrained part of my life and who i am as a person.

One of my favorite quotes on the topic of risk.

“You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.”
― William Faulkner

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets us apart from others: What sets us apart is our commitment to the community we serve, by bringing good vibes and positive energy into their days.
We set out to create one of the coolest brands in the space while providing top notch, high performing products for the needs they will serve. We noticed a lot of the big brands in this space were out of touch with their end users, so we want to close that gap by bringing not only cool but useful and effective products to the world.

What are we proud/excited about:
As a company we are most excited about continuing on our growth path to becoming a staple Brand in smoke shops and dispensaries around the globe. Every new retailer that decides to shelve our products is another step in making our dreams a reality. Its honestly an awesome experience seeing the world react and appreciate our brand especially after the thousands of hours that went into creating it and the many times we had to start back from square one not knowing if we would ever get this idea off the ground.

How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way:

Business wise my journey has been a long one, i have participated in many ventures in my time thus far. Seeing pretty good success in some, while flat out failing in others. Life is a journey and you have to keep going. Nothing happens overnight, decide you want something and go after it with what ever it takes.
Overcoming challenges is something that was engrained in me from a young age, there were a lot of things i had my sights set on as a kid and many i wasn’t very good at. I learned early on that i had to work harder than the next person to get the same results and even when the case isn’t true today that principal is still engrained in me.
There have been many lessons along this path, the most important one i would like the world to know about is to just keep walking, if you cant walk then crawl, but never stop moving.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?:

This story is still being written. At the end of the day we all want to look back and say that we gave it our all.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Coming into town i would say a BBQ place is a must stop for some brisket and ribs, following that would be some good ole Tex-Mex. Hanging out wise, assuming its a nice day out i would suggest buffalo bayou park, with plenty of walking trails and parks with a beautiful view of down town that would probably be my choice for a hang out in the city.
After the scenic day we would switch gears and head out. Nightlife wise you can either do Washington ave which has majority of the cities bars and clubs. Or you can do midtown which is similar, with a younger rowdier crowd. Just depends what kind of night we were looking to have.
Finishing the night with a late night stop to either House of Pies or the classic WhatAburger.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As Cliché as it is, my parents are my biggest supporters and motivators. My Mom in particular has always been my number one supporter and motivator throughout my life and into adulthood. I’ve always had big dreams and she always held me to it so i have no choice but to put the work in. Making them proud will always be a driving factor. I was also blessed to have some amazing coaches throughout my high school and college career who helped guide me and without realizing it played some major parts in shaping the man i have become. Whether it be learning to overcome adversity, pushing through mental and physical pain or just the never ending journey of perfecting your craft and utilizing your particular skill sets to further the team goals.
There are many other influences from books, friends and entrepreneurs i look up to that i would like to acknowledge as well.
