We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Grannell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My business partner David Flower and myself have a long history in producing events and as a horror filmmaker and cult drag queen, I’ve always felt like I’ve been drawn to immersive experiences. We were both fans of classic American Halloween haunted houses growing up as kids and so we wanted to create a production company where we could build immersive experiences that are part theatre, part horror show, and part haunted house.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been drawn to being creative, from the time I was a small kid. This passion took me to Penn State Film School and after graduating I moved to San Francisco. I ended up creating a character, Peaches Christ, that I performed as for a hobby while also making movies and producing events. Eventually these things got enough momentum where I was able to do this full time and now I juggle a bunch of different creative projects and businesses simultaneously.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I guess the first place I would take them would be to our Fang Bang immersive bar experience in downtown Denver, happening at Sports Castle. I would also want to take them to Meow Wolf, which I think is really impressive. I’d probably take them to Denver Sweet, where there’s a great rooftop bar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shout-out to my idol, friend, and mentor John Waters.
