We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlyn Duffey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaitlyn, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I understand my purpose on this earth is to be a healer. I would say wholeheartedly that the path of creativity and healing chose me. My entire life I have been drawn towards the beauty of art. I’m not great at drawing or painting, my art comes out in the form of healing. My art is in my fingertips as I coax stubborn tension out of your muscles, my art is in recipes and elixirs that ease and eliminate ailments. My art is nourishment for the body and stimulation for the senses. My art is honoring the plant medicine provided to us by Mother Earth, my art is helping you understand your body on a deeper level. My art is in the time I spend, the people I am graced with, the feeling that is evoked by what I have created.
I chose this path because it allows me to live the life I want. I am fueled by watching my creations help others live a better more fulfilled life. The people I meet and interact with touch me on such a special level, and I feel so honored when others choose Nourish CBD to help on their health journey.
I strive to live a life where my passion for my career aligns with my passions for life. The journey is the best part.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Nourish CBD was created to bring quality plant medicine and CBD to all. I have a background in Herbalism and am certified in Massage Therapy, so Nourish CBD holds a very unique platform in the CBD world. My products focus on plant medicine just as much as the CBD. I infuse my own plant oils and always source as locally as possible. Ingredients matter and are the bread and butter of what I do. Every product is handmade in small batches to ensure quality. I always provide education and support through all of my clients’ Journeys!
We have been up and running for 2 and a half years! I can’t believe that in this time I have taken Nourish full time!
I wouldn’t have gotten to this point without the support of my community. I have met so many fellow entrepreneurs through Nourish CBD. It is really great to know that there are other people who are on the same path as you and sharing space with these makers lights me on fire!
It definitely hasn’t been easy growing a business during a worldwide pandemic. This taught me so much about patience, but also perseverance. I have spent a lot of time the past two years working on the daily habits that build a successful life. Motivation is made, and I work really hard to keep that motivation flowing. I find that showing up for yourself every day is brave, and if I don’t show up for myself, I am missing out on the milk and honey that is life. The most important thing that Nourish CBD has taught me is to believe in myself.
I wouldn’t have gotten to this point without the support of my community. I have met so many fellow entrepreneurs through Nourish CBD. I attend a lot of markets all around Denver and have met some truly great people. It is really great to know that there are other people who are on the same path as me and sharing space with these makers is an honor. There is some insanely great art out there, and the market community has made supporting small business an absolute priority in my life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This trip is happening in the summer. First and foremost, we would go river rafting with a group of friends down Ruby Horsethief Canyon near Grand Junction. This is usually a 4 day trip. Floating from campsite to campsite and enjoying the finer things in life! From here we would head to Glenwood Springs. This has been my favorite town in Colorado for nearly 10 years. We (of course) would have to stop by Casey Brewery, have dinner at Riviera Supper Club and finish our evening with a soak at Iron Mountain Hot Springs. When we get back home to Denver, Sushi is a must. We stop in for a fantastic dinner at Sushi Sasa. After, we would attend String Cheese Incident at Red Rocks. For the remaining time we would spend with friends and family, relax with Massages at Izba, spend time just being, paddleboard, hike, cook at home and enjoy being together. Some breweries we would hit are Knotted Root in Nederland and Uhl’s in Boulder. Some wineries we would hit are Deep Roots Winery and Carboy in Denver. I don’t see why not!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have two organizations that I have to shout out! The first is Colorado School of Healing Arts. The SECOND I walked into the CSHA building, I knew I was home. I knew I had found something incredibly special. My experience here opened my eyes to the possibilities of healing, and to a brand new way of thinking. CSHA was the spark of my spiritual journey. The people I met there are some of the best I have ever met. The feeling of community and love really set the rhythm for the rest of my life. Getting my AOS in Massage Therapy will forever be on the best things I have done for myself. CSHA will always be a monument in my life. The second shout I want to make it to Senior Field Studies at Bear Creek High School. This is an outdoor education course taken the second semester of your senior year. This program took my class backpacking in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona, River Rafting down Desolation Canyon in Utah, and to a Ranch in Olathe, CO to learn about farming and ranching. We also learned about how the city works, and received real life education. The instructors take the students out of the classroom and put them in the field. We gained so much life experience in these 5 short months. SFS sparked a love for the outdoors that has continued to grow! This program helped me realize how much the earth has to offer, and how much we can learn from her. It also showed me that I wanted to spend a large part of my life outside and needed to have a career that allowed that. SFS helped me gain so much confidence and helped me figure out who I am as a human. Special thanks to Mark Leachman and Steve Porentas for making this program everything it is and continues to be!
I know without a doubt that I would not be where I am today without these two experiences!
