Meet Kaitlyn Seikunas | MA, LPCC | Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlyn Seikunas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaitlyn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I always knew I wanted to start my own business because I grew up surrounded by entrepreneurship—my dad owns a gymnastics school, and my mom owned a yoga studio. These spaces felt like home to me, places where I was cared for and supported. However, my first career and “real” job was a much different experience. I worked at a salon and spa in New Jersey where I was overworked and underpaid. When I moved to Colorado in 2019, I had a completely different experience working for a boss who truly cared about her employees. She allowed us to create our own schedules, choose the services we wanted to offer, and have control over how much we worked. Through her leadership, I learned that running a business doesn’t have to come at the expense of others’ well-being. Katie, my boss, showed me the kind of businesswoman I aspire to be—one who prioritizes her employees’ mental health, empowers them, and supports them in thriving in the areas where they feel most confident and fulfilled.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a therapist—but that’s not my first or only career. I’m also a hairstylist! A decade ago, I realized that while I loved doing hair, it wasn’t fulfilling enough on its own. That realization led me to take a leap and go back to school to become a therapist. The journey wasn’t easy—starting from the undergraduate level was daunting, and balancing work with school made it even more challenging. I earned my bachelor’s degree from CU Boulder and my master’s from The Chicago School, all while working part-time. It was tough, but every late night and long day was worth it. Fast forward to today—I absolutely love being a therapist. Having my clients trust me with their struggles is an incredible privilege, one I will never take for granted. I specialize in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, adolescent challenges, and gender and sexual identity exploration. Helping people heal and grow is the most rewarding work I could ask for.
I wouldn’t have made it through without my husband’s support, lifelong friends who understood when I had to miss out on things to study, my dad’s financial help, and the incredible team at Sweep Salons, who cheered me on every step of the way.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned? You don’t have to approach everything the same way. The idea that “how you show up for one thing is how you show up for everything” isn’t always true—especially when you’re balancing multiple commitments. Perfection isn’t the goal; showing up, doing your best, and prioritizing your well-being is what truly matters.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a bit of a homebody so instead of planning a week lets do the perfect day in Boulder Colorado:
Breakfast – Wonder Juice Press
Mid morning hike – Skunk Canyon Trail – the perfect 3 mile hike in Boulder
Lunch – Flower child (gotta have the mother earth bowl with chicken!)
Late afternoon walk down pearl street
Evening relaxation yoga class at CorePower Yoga
Dinner – Boulder Roadhouse Depo (get the the jam BURGER!)
Dessert – Boulder Baked

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to my husband, Sean Cahill. He is one of those rare people who consistently puts others before himself. As an RN, he thrives under pressure and brings compassion to everything he does. Sean has always supported me wholeheartedly, whether it was helping me study in college or making the long drive back to the East Coast to spend three weeks with my dad—his father-in-law (haha). Beyond his work in healthcare, Sean has also carved out a unique business here in Colorado, transforming horse trailers into mobile bars. Check out his incredible work at www.wildwestdesignsllc.com!
