We had the good fortune of connecting with Kalika Kanitkar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kalika, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Staying psychologically healthy has become difficult for many in communities around the world, which has led people to hurting others or sabotaging themselves. I created Alignmental Wellness because I noticed a gap in resources available for people to address frustration, discontent, burnout, overwhelm and trauma, and implement solutions. My business was created with the mission to provide education and tools to the masses so they can take care of themselves mentally whenever such situations arise.

Individuals and teams are taught to use practical strategies to find direction and purpose, create tangible results, break toxic and create beneficial habits and routines, find work/life balance, and integrate wellness mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. My goal is empower people worldwide with the understanding and resources to realign themselves whenever necessary.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’ve noticed many people wait to get help until an obstacle becomes bigger than it has to. When it’s become a problem. What’s unique about my methodology is that it aims to reach the person who doesn’t know, or doesn’t want to admit they need support/change in a certain area. First bringing them into awareness of their current state, I’m then able to guide them through the process of creating alignment that supports healthy psychological functioning. I teach how to self-assess and build access an arsenal of tools they can use as needed. I’m excited to reach people on a larger scale by partnering with institutions that can bring this teaching into schools and the workforce.

I didn’t always know I wanted to be in business for myself. Brought up in an East Indian family, the expectation was I would become a doctor or an engineer. Mental health seemed dismissible, and my own struggles as a young girl were never properly addressed at the time. However, my childhood bred a curiosity in human thought, behavior, and what actually regulates our mental state. I studied Cognitive Science in college and worked in the field a few years before I realized that the job I really wanted didn’t exist and things that need to shift structurally in society weren’t being addressed. That’s when I decided to build what I thought was needed, myself.

It was a tough road, and I couldn’t always see where I was going, but I just focused on the next right step and listened to my inner compass. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is how to set boundaries – how to say no, how to step away from unsupportive people and activities. That allowed me to create space in my life to find those who have a life similar to the one I desire, and model that which I want to duplicate.

Without good health, everything else suffers. And every person faces their own set of challenges to staying mentally healthy. Most choose to suffer silently and alone. My vision is a world where support is readily available and strategies to support mental wellness are common practice.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely spend some time exploring downtown Denver – there’s always a new, fun concept for restaurant or bar I like to visit when I’m there. And dinner at Ocean Prime Seafood is a must! A Flatirons hike is always incredible, Chautauqua Park in Boulder is a favorite. Planning a weekend getaway to a mountain town like Vail or Aspen is always a dream, as well as day trips to hikes in places like Hanging Lake!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am now without the support of my tribe. My circle is fairly small but made up of some of the most incredible women who I am blessed to call my friends, that have supported my personal growth and my business from day one. I also couldn’t have done it without my man, who believes in me the most, especially when I have doubted myself.

I’m an avid reader, and since I discovered self development 8 years ago, have read over 80+ books to improve myself personally and professionally. The one book that had the biggest impact on building this business specifically is The Nuclear Effect: 6 Pillars to Building a 7+ Figure Online Business by Scott Olford. Reading and working through this book helped me build the structure and foundation of everything I’m able to offer now.

Though I dabbled in side hustles that didn’t ultimately become the work I feel called to do, the leadership, mentorship and guidance I received from experts in those industries is invaluable. Without seeing other people light themselves on fire for their passions and become the people they dreamt of being, I would never have had the courage to jump into business for myself. For that I’m forever grateful.
