We had the good fortune of connecting with Karen Dorfman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karen, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe the most important factor behind the success of my business has been my ability to connect with people on a personal level. This ability to relate and build rapport is so important to me, so that when I express my knowledge of the real estate industry and the current market conditions to help guide my clients in a certain direction, they know I have their best interests in mind. It is important to me to be authentic, empathetic, and compassionate throughout the transaction. I recognize this process is emotional and often times overwhelming, so being able to identify my clients’ needs, concerns, and desires allows me to take control of the situation to avoid further unnecessary stressors.

What should our readers know about your business?
I began my real estate business almost 4 years ago and have since completed almost 100 transactions and 50 million in production. I have grown my business from the ground up and am proud of the brand I’ve created for myself along the way. My clients can always count on me to be honest, upfront, and clear with them from the get-go, while still allowing them to make their own decisions along the way. This job is not easy and comes with a lot of pitfalls and detours and obstacles to overcome, but I am always eager to learn and better my skill to provide a positive experience for my clients. With every transaction comes a new experience. New people, new homes, new challenges, new successes, and new lessons. I continue to hone my practice and will always be learning so that I can continue to serve my clients to the best of my ability. I have loved every moment of this journey and look forward to this career continuing to shape my life and better me as an individual. I am so grateful for the opportunities to meet new people, help secure an incredible investment in their future, and guide them through one of the most important decision making processes they will ever encounter. Empowering my clients through this process is important to me, so that they truly celebrate the magnitude of what they are doing. Buying a home is an incredibly powerful tool for future financial security- making sure my clients feel celebrated in that is important.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love taking people to new places and showing them my city! I would start with brunch at Snooze, followed by a hike up to Maxwell Falls in Evergreen. On the way back, we’d stop at Lariat Lodge for a drink before heading to Guard and Grace for a wood-fire grilled octopus appetizer and the best steak in Denver! There are so many noteworthy places in and around Denver, it is hard to narrow it down 🙂 Here are some other places that should be a Denver visit staple: The Dive Inn on South Broadway- my favorite dive bar! Cheap drinks, lots of games, great staff, and always a fun environment! The Wild- a cute and cozy coffee shop with upscale hand-mixed cocktails. Great place to work, bring clients, or just hang out! Red Rocks Amphitheater- need I say more? The Denver Zoo and the Museum of Nature and Science El Five- delicious food and incredible views of both the city and the mountains! The Rusty Tapp- the best bbq!! But you better get there before 2 pm. They open at 11 am and close when they sell out, and they sell out fast! Wash Park- a beautiful place to walk around, get some exercise in, or just enjoy the lake and mountain views.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe my success to my clients and could not be more grateful for their support. I got into this business with the intention of expanding my social horizons and in the hopes of creating solid friendships and connections that would last me a lifetime. I have been honored to meet so many incredible people over the last 4 years and can truly say many of my clients have become friends. They constantly push me to do better and make me want to succeed FOR them. As I hone my skills and continue to educate myself, it is my clients that make me hungry for more. The more knowledge and experience I have, the more I can empower them! My clients enhance my business in a million ways they will never know, but without them, there would be no motivation for me to succeed.
