We had the good fortune of connecting with Karen Durbin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karen, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Find your joy and share it with others.
I’m very focused on the joy in my life and career right now. I’m working hard to cut out things that don’t bring me joy, and to stay in the moment with things that do.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have managed to bring two things I love together in one business that serves the real estate sales community. I am a designer and home stager using my talent for interior decorating to help market homes. I am also a writer and bring that skill to the real estate copywriting that I do. It wasn’t easy to get where I am today, but I wouldn’t trade any of my experiences, even the challenging ones, because they’ve helped me to grow as a designer, as a writer, and as a business owner.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d definitely start with drinks in LoDo and some rooftop shenanigans. Maybe a shopping spree and lunch in The Highlands at Meade Street Station. A concert at Red Rocks would certainly make the itinerary, and as long as we’re there, we could get in a quick hike along Dinosaur Ridge. Then off to the mountains in my Jeep to take a few roads less traveled, maybe do some camping, and some stargazing. We’d end the week with a spa day to kick the dirt off and then just relax poolside somewhere.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Beth Berg of Artemis Interior was the first person to encourage me to turn my passion for decorating into a new career. She hired me for copywriting and social media work, but quickly convinced me to step away from the computer and start staging and redesigning. She is the reason I found this career and fell in love with it.
