We had the good fortune of connecting with Karina V Frausto and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karina V, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Life is about taking risks, whether personal or career-related. One thing I’ve learned on my journey is that you’ll never feel completely ready for the next big step. You just have to take the leap, do your best, and trust the process. Life has its ups and downs; some doors may close, but better opportunities are always around the corner. Don’t be discouraged by setbacks they teach you resilience and gratitude. You learn to trust yourself, and when you emerge stronger, the rewards are more meaningful. Two of the biggest risks I’ve taken are moving to London, UK for law school and starting my own immigration practice. Living and studying in London changed my life and perspective, exposing me to different cultures and viewpoints. I am grateful for that opportunity, it’s an experience I will never forget. The second risk was opening my immigration practice. It was unexpected, a leap life pushed me to take, with many pros and cons to weigh. Despite not feeling ready, I trusted the process. Today, it remains one of my best decisions.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a woman, Latina, and an immigrant. I connect deeply with my clients because I’ve faced many of the challenges they experience. My parents brought me to a new country when I was 9 years old. I didn’t speak the language, understand the culture, and I was bullied in school for my accent and shyness. Today, I’m proud to be an Immigration Attorney, running my own practice where I assist clients who are my people. Being Mexican-American fills me with pride, as does speaking fluent Spanish with clients who feel heard and understood. Most importantly, I’m grateful for the opportunity to guide clients through a crucial and complex process.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For anyone visiting Denver, I would take them on a hike to any of the beautiful mountains/lakes we have in Colorado. I would take them skiing or do a snow activity if they visited during the winter season. I would also take them to any of the many markets and/or festivals we have all year round. I would take them to a concert at Red Rocks. I would also take them on a park picnic, a bike ride, brunch, and to some delicious restaurants like Potager.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my family and friends. But I want to give special thanks to my sister, Karen Frausto, and my father, Rosendo Frausto. Without their continued support I would not have come as far as I have. They have always believed in me, even when I doubted myself. When I gave excuses as to why I could not continue, they offered a million solutions, giving me no option but to move forward and keep trying. I would not be who I am today if it wasn’t for them being in my life. I love you forever.
