We had the good fortune of connecting with Kasi Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kasi, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was very direct- I want to build a brand I can proudly stand behind and pass down generations.
Skincare. This is where it all begins. I have worked on the medical side of skin as a Dermatology Nurse for seven and a half years. Six years into my dermatology nursing career I put myself through a Natural Skincare Formulating Program.
Clean ingredients are everything. We should take as much care with what we put on to our bodies as we do into our bodies.
I want to keep my skin healthy and vibrant for all the years I have to come, but most high end skincare businesses put such high prices on their products, it can make the average working American cringe at the purchase.
Sure, it’s an ‘investment’ in ourselves, but I strive to formulate and sell my products at a fair price.
A price I can continue to grow my business at, but fair enough my customer’s don’t have to budget to incorporate into their skincare routine.
My values are cruelty-free, as I am Leaping Bunny Certified.
Clean ingredients.
Naturally inspired, results driven skincare.
My long-term goals are to have my ‘Earth Glow’ Face Care Line tested to be ‘Dermatology Approved’, obtain ‘Hydration Improvement Percentage’, ‘Fine Line Improvement Percentage’. I will also obtain SPF rating on my Lip Balm and Face Serum.
My business will give back. I am in the process of partnering with ‘One Tree Planted’, focusing my donations to the ‘Forest Fire Recovery’ Reforestation out west.
I take this small business journey one day at a time.
The Rolling Bell Skincare breathes life into me. It has stolen a piece of my heart, as every part of this business is a piece of me.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my story.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As explained previously, I work professionally as a dermatology nurse.
I am a student at Bowling Green State University, working towards my bachelor degree in Technical and Applied Studies- many classes focus on small business, management, social media marketing, etc.. I hope once my business takes off, I can share my knowledge, education and help others get their dreams off the ground!
Being an uplifting and supportive entrepreneur is the only way to be. Even if a business has the same goals as you, there’s enough room in this world for all of us to succeed.
Be encouraging, but in the same breath protect your craft. Your words and your niché are an extension of who you are. Protect it, always.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To show a long-distance friend a great week; I would start by hitting our local coffee shops in the morning, rotating Gathering Grounds, Wild Brew, Boomtown, Cold Creek Coffee Company to start each day. Stopping into Cosi Bella Boutique, Health Plus’ Blue House, River + Road Marketplace, Lakelynn Design for some retail therapy. Halloweekends at Cedar Point for the fun atmosphere and rides. Visit our local Farmer’s Markets and Port Edin Farm for some fresh ingredients to cook out. Maybe even a night out in Cleveland, dressing up and having drinks!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Who deserves credit in my story?
First, would be my Fiancé and Children, for giving me the room to navigate this venture. Small business start up is extremely time consuming. If you have been there, you know!
Continuous improvement, marketing, formulating, website designing, photography, networking are all joyfully time consuming. I wear every hat in this business- with pride.
I always tell my family, one day this will all be for something.
My Rolling Bell Family, without my customer’s my business would not be here. I am grateful for their trust, encouragement and feedback- always. They are the best part of my business.
I show my gratitude to my customer’s by offering a Loyalty Rewards Program, earning them points towards each dollar spent, reviews left etc.
I am a firm believer in showing gratitude.
Local Stockists, small businesses who allow my products to be on their shelves. Forever grateful for each of them!
My parents and Gram. My parents and Gram are always supportive of my choices.
All social media followers! Your interactions and simply just being there helps grow my small business. Thank you!
