We had the good fortune of connecting with Kate Keyser + Lauren Dalrymple and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kate + Lauren, what do you want your legacy to be?
We want them to remember that we are good people who take care of our people. We work with heart. We are stewards of our community, and creators and encouragers of beauty as it shows up in all of its forms. Interior design gets a really bad reputation for being pretentious and unattainable at times, and we work really hard every single day to dismantle that and bring a fresh perspective to this industry. Design can be fun. We aim to bring authenticity into every project and our hope is that anyone who works with us feels that.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We have worked incredibly hard to be known for our work ethic and desire to deliver an incredible experience for our customers and community. We want people to leave us feeling inspired and excited about what’s to come. Whether it be a simple interaction or a bigger project – we take our daily interactions with others to heart. We want to be known for more than delivering pretty spaces.
In all honesty, there was absolutely no balance in the beginning. We were in pure survival mode, working all hours of the day and night. As we’ve grown, we’ve found that we have periods of massive creative energy and also periods where we
need to rest and take time to embrace our hobbies and lives outside of work. It’s one of the reasons we’re so grateful there are two of us.
It certainly hasn’t been an easy journey, starting a business in a competitive market during the pandemic, but we are so thankful for the struggle. We talk often about how the grind helps us appreciate where we are now and shows us how far we’ve come. We’ve learned that remaining authentic to who we are is truly what’s most important to us. It can be easy to get distracted, but every time we recenter and focus on being good people doing good work the rewards are endless.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Alright, so if you’re gonna hang with us for the day – odds are we are going to be at one of the below places:
JEFE’S (Longmont) – We are food lovers at heart. We realize a lot of people say that but we’ve really put in the work searching for the best queso the front range has to offer…and we can confirm it’s at Jefe’s.
NURTURE (Denver) – This incredible wellness marketplace is an amazing spot to grab a bite to eat and work for a bit. Their cocktails are incredible and their ingredients can’t be beat. We truly love everything about this spot.
ALPINE MODERN (Boulder) – This is the BEST spot in Boulder to hang and have a cup of amazing coffee. They have incredible views and excellent food options too.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our families – we truly couldn’t have done any of this without their support and constant positive influence in our lives. Also our employees who make the day-to-day of what we do possible. We would be lost without our people.
