We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Pine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my own business to be able to bring yoga therapy to more clients and communities. Being in private practice has allowed me to develop a solid foundation for my therapeutic offerings, and to figure out what works best for my clients and students. Now, I am expanding those offerings to bring yoga therapy work to underserved and disenfranchised communities, as well as to individuals who are seeking tools and practices to help them heal from things like physical pain, muscle weakness and tension, emotional triggers and wounds, and mental stress.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My name is Katie Pine, and I am a Denver-based private practice Yoga Therapist and owner of Reconnection Yoga Therapy, LLC. I am also a trauma-informed yoga and meditation instructor, and have been teaching yoga for more than 8 years. I fell in love with yoga over 11 years ago when I left home for the first time, and needed practices that made me feel grounded and connected to myself again in the midst of so much change.
I completed my 800-hour yoga therapy training in December of 2021, after almost 3 years of dedicated yoga therapy study. Now, I use a combination of Eastern and Western therapeutic methods to help clients experiencing things like stress, anxiety, grief and chronic pain find the specific physical, mental, emotional and energetic practices and yoga-based tools they need to restore balance to their bodies and their lives. I work with clients and teach trauma-informed yin yoga classes both in person in the Denver area, and virtually, and am passionate about supporting my clients and students as they reconnect with their true, inherently whole selves.
I feel so fortunate to have been able to be trained in these healing modalities, and to have experienced so much personal healing and growth through my own yoga practice. While my path has not been without challenges, overcoming them through trial and error, self-compassion and consistent self-study has deepened my connection to myself and increased my ability to meet and be with the full range of my experiences and emotions, just like I now help my clients to do.
I would love the world to know that you can choose to tune into and reconnect with yourself at any time, and that previous experience with yoga is not needed for yoga therapy treatment to be successful. You already have all the resources you need for healing within you, and our work together will allow you to access these inherent resources!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am grateful to be a part of the wellness community at Nurture in the Highlands neighborhood of Denver, which offers a wonderful cafe and dining experience, fitness classes, local retailers, a gorgeous patio and a wide variety of wellness practitioners to help you restore your connection to yourself. I also frequent Denver’s beautiful parks, love showing visitors the view of the city from the rooftop at El Five, and enjoy getting out to Red Rocks for shows and to hike in the surrounding areas!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to give a shoutout to my wonderful yoga therapy training school, Inner Peace Yoga Therapy. Inner Peace is an accredited yoga therapy school through the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), and trains aspiring yoga therapists all over the country, both in person and online. Their faculty was outstanding, and I learned so much about myself throughout the course of their 800-hour Yoga Therapy Certification program. Their training left me feeling equipped to hold space for clients experiencing a wide variety of conditions, and made me feel supported throughout and as I embarked on the next phase of my career. You can learn more about their program at innerpeaceyogatherapy.com!
