We had the good fortune of connecting with Katy Frost and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katy, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
People are what have driven my passions, desires, and pursuits in life. To capture the inherit beauty is truly such an honor and gives me so much joy. How blessed I feel to arrive to a strangers wedding and capture the most important day of their life and leave having made new friends, and maybe a few years down the road I will capture their maternity photos.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The inherit beauty of humanity is something that I will never get over capturing. I love how I can show up to a shoot and use the same pose as I did with my last couple and it can look completely different. Every human is unique, beautiful, and created by design. I love all things elegant, sophisticated, and beautiful. Wedding days are full of moments, details, themes, emotions, and actions, all of which can be frozen into a frame and relived for years to come.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Let’s go to the mountains, shall we? We would wake up super early and drive up to Estes Park- up trail ridge road, and watch the sunrise while sipping coffee, listening to Josh Groban, and blasting the heater in my car. Once the peak of sunrise was over we would then. head down to Estes and hit up a cozy little coffee shop that is full of games, a little shop full of journals and cards, and more importantly coffee. We would order a latte, find a cozy little corner, play games, and chat about life for hours. Once we ran out of laughs, things to talk about, and coffee, we would head back home and play some volleyball with friends!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Thinking back to just 2 years ago when I decided to professionally pursue photography the first people who trusted me to shoot their weddings, their maternity photos, and family photos when I had no portfolio to show for myself are what gave me a chance at making this into a business. Thank you for trusting me with those moments to capture! To my friends, fellow photographers who post on social media and continue to inspire me, and to my family who’ve always encouraged me. Also to my dear friend Beka who told me I’m never allowed to stop photography and has always told me how amazing my photos were when I doubted myself.
