Meet Kaylee Leets | Cycology Studio Co-Owner & Manager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaylee Leets and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaylee, what are you inspired by?
Others. My peers within the Cycology Studio community and Colorado Springs in general. When I stand behind the front desk and check people into class, we’re conversing about their new promotion and their family trips, their lives. Learning about others and what they’re accomplishing in their everyday lives then drives me. What keeps the studio more than just a spin studio is the community- we’re always inspiring each other to do better. To keep going.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I moved from Kalamazoo, MI after graduating from Western Michigan University in 2016 for a job managing a small fashion-forward boutique downtown COS. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out as planned, and after graduating with a Textiles and Apparel degree, I wasn’t sure what options I had in Colorado Springs. That’s when my lovely sister-in-law asked me to go through instructor training to become a cycling instructor at Colorado Springs’s first indoor cycling studio. To be clear, I had never even taken an indoor cycling class before, let alone teach one. But then I did, for five years. I became the only full-time employee at Cycology Studio, worked the front desk, purchased retail orders, helped create graphics for the retail, and then two years in, I was managing the studio alone. Five years in, I became part owner.
I would have told my 22-year-old self, good job for trying something new and stepping out of your comfort zone. It’s okay to pivot and make changes in your career/life. Chances are, you won’t regret it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ah, so fun! Colorado Springs has so many fun places! Hiking would include Red Rocks Open Space and Mt. Cutler. After hiking, we would definitely snag a beer and grub from Cerberus, 503W, Front Range BBQ, or White Pie. For after-dinner fun, cocktails at ICONS, COATI, or Cork & Cask. Breakfast after a night out- Garden of the Gods Market, or Urban Steam. If we have guests in the summer, we’d catch a Switchbacks game and then head to Dos Santos for tacos!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The team I get to work with every day. I’m constantly being fed new ideas and feeling inspired by the community at Cycology Studio. My sister-in-law, the founder of Cycology Studio, is someone I really look up to and have always respected as an entrepreneur. She took me under her wing as a fresh college grad who just moved to Colorado, and I’ve learned to create a business alongside her ever since.
