We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Corrigan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelly, how does your business help the community?
A question I often ask myself is: What can happen after the act of creation—and even beyond the sale? I explore how my art can speak to or support issues I’m passionate about, including land and ocean preservation, climate crisis, animal welfare, and care for people and the planet.
Donating proceeds and aligning with causes I care about is one way I do this. The Humane Society and Death Penalty Action have been two organizations that I’ve sent 10-20% of my total sales.
I’m also intentional about the materials I use—sourcing recycled or upcycled canvas, paints, and tools whenever possible. Even these small choices, like diverting these materials from winding up in landfills or oceans, reflect my broader commitment to sustainability and impact.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Exploring is my favorite thing in life. Whether it’s exploring a hiking trail, a country, a coastline, or a fresh canvas with a paint brush (or an unconventional tool I found at a thrift shop); I see each piece of art I create as both an exploration and an experiment. I don’t know where it will go or how it will end, but I enjoy the journey so much. My curiosity keeps me returning to the canvas. I’m also inspired by countless artists, music, and nature. I tend to focus on abstract designs, often abstract landscapes, that capture a feeling or an experience. I love bright, vibrant colors, especially blues and greens as well as textures and layering.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Boulder, I would take them to Beleza for coffee, Lucky’s Bakehouse for a pastry, and then take a stroll around Wonderland Lake or up Joder Trail (or both!).
I’d take them to walk along Pearl Street pedestrian mall to browse, shop, or grab lunch at Zoe Ma Ma or Dish Gourmet. After that, we’d drive to Chautauqua and either hike or drive up Flagstaff for a view of the whole town and beyond.
Dinner options would be either Barchetta Pizza, Audrey Jane’s Pizza Garage, or to stay put in Chautauqua to visit Chautauqua Dining Hall for a delicious meal on their deck with views of the Flatirons.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shout out all the local Boulder artists that are so wonderful, talented, and supportive! For anyone in the Boulder/Denver area – I highly recommend checking out Art Parts and ReCreative to buy (or donate) gently used art supplies.
