We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly McCoy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Not giving up is tough, especially when you’re talking about your livelihood. There has been a few times in my career where I contemplated giving up. Whether that was from a feeling of being inadequate or just being rundown, I have felt it. What helps me is investing in personal development. Whether it is a specific training, book or podcast. Typically, they say when you’re feeling like giving up that is when your greatest breakthrough happens. So my advise would be to NOT give up, invest in yourself during this time, and figure out why you’re feeling this way and make sure you don’t get back to that place again.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is an all inclusive Beauty business specializing in corrective intuitive skincare and Natural microblading. I pour my all into every service that is offered to make sure that i’m not only giving the client the best results, but the best experience as well. I am most excited about what is to come for my business as a whole! I have so many exciting plans and dreams for the near future I can’t wait to share about. Starting a business is definitely not easy. I think the secret to success is to never stop learning, and advertising your work. I want the world to know that anything is possible. You can absolutely do anything you set your mind to.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was in the area I would take them to explore all of my favorite places. We would start out with a beach day, have lunch in laguna beach on the water and go get some sun. I would then take her to Disneyland and eat and snack our way through the park. Another favorite place to visit would be Carlsbad. I love restaurant hopping and spending time in the small beach city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Success doesn’t come overnight. It takes hard work, dedication, long hours, lots of trainings and a go getter attitude. I would definitely contribute a lot of my success to books, friends in the industry to bounce ideas off of and a training I did (and am actually retaking this year) called Bosses in Beauty that completely transformed my thought process and business all together. A few books I recommend reading are profit first, think and grow rich, the latte factor, and atomic habits to name a few. Understanding finances is so important when owning a business. I also love books that help you transform your thought process and rewire your brain. I have also made some life long friends in the industry that have been so helpful with bouncing ideas off of and having a relatable friend to confide in. And lastly, Bosses in Beauty is a 8 week long training I completed a few years ago and enrolled in again this year and it is an all around training from mindset, to finances, social media and marketing. Raya from Bosses in Beauty has changed my business for the better. I highly recommend.
