Meet Kevin J. Anderson | writer, publisher, professor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin J. Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin J., how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I love what I do for my work, and it has become my life. Being a creative is not just a full-time job, but a way of life. All day every day I am living with my worlds and characters and enjoying it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a science fiction and fantasy writer and all my life I have lived with imaginary friends in fantastic places. I love telling their stories and especially love when my work resonates with other people. I have 24 million copies sold in 34 languages around the world.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Of course, that depends on who the friend is and what their abilities are. I would love to take them up to Devil’s Playground on the Pikes Peak Highway and we’d climb from there to the summit. I’d take them to some of my favorite craft breweries in the area, I’d go on some of the very nice easy trails around Monument, where I live, and we’d hang out at my home and watch some favorite movies together.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many, but I’d especially like to call attention to my friend and mentor Neil Peart, legendary drummer and lyricist from Rush. He inspired me in many things, set a high bar for me to meet, and lived by the philosophy of showing love and respect for others.
