We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Glover and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kim, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe the most important factor behind my success and the success of Oodles Of Fluffy Doodles is that this is my passion. That allows me to deeply care about every aspect of my business, from dog and pedigree selections, to client communication and how I raise the puppies. It’s very important to me that I maintain a personal touch with each and every puppy and client. I make sure my families get to see daily videos of their litter from the day they’re born until they go home. And from pregnancy through taking their puppy home, I am sharing what I’ve learned from hundreds of hours of studying and experience. My goal is to equip my puppy families with all of the current information on how to positively impact longevity, how to pick up where I leave off with training, and how to build an incredible bond with their new family member. And for the time the puppies are with me, I pour into them daily to mold and shape them into confident, smart, calm and loving puppies.
What should our readers know about your business?
One of the things that sets me apart is what we went through with our beloved Chocolate Lab. For starters, training was a must because he was 110 lbs of muscle. To survive, I had to learn how to have a very well trained dog. Boy did I learn a lot.
Secondly, he began having grand mal seizures at 3 years old that continued until he passed. He had a bad thyroid, fatty tumors, cancer, a torn cruciate ligament, and lots of stomach problems. We lost him at 8 and it broke our hearts. That journey led me to study why scientists say genetically speaking, dogs should live 20 years, yet we weren’t even close to that. I researched constantly trying to find the keys to help him with all of his health issues, and I learned so much. It was amazing to see how each change or thing implemented helped him.
Now I share everything I’ve learned with my client families on health, training, and any topic that affects puppies, dogs and their parents. It’s a joy and a passion to fully equip them and the puppies to have successful lives together.
I’m also very proud of the caliber of the puppies I have. I do programs that the US Military uses on every service dog they have, and it makes a huge difference in the confidence, health and disposition of each puppy.
Getting to where I am business-wise has been a lifetime of experiences in management and ministry. I worked for a large corporation out of college that stressed taking proper care of your customers and taught me much. As I previously stated, my parents were entrepreneurs and they strived for excellence in all they did, and passed that conviction onto me. And ministry taught me so much about people, and true success.
I learned that quality is better than quantity, that any situation can be worked through and conquered with professionalism and kindness, and that no one can build or take your integrity from you but you. I’ve also had to learn how to have the standards I do without burning out, and a big part of that is doing what is a blast…and time management of course.
I would want everyone to know that at Oodles of Fluffy Doodles, I picked what in my opinion is the very best breed, and my goal is to create incredibly connected, loving, fun, smart and well trained dogs that everyone loves to be with. It’s my reputation on display with every single puppy and every encounter with clients, and that is something that really matters to me.
I’d also like people to know that Authentic Multigenerational Australian Labradoodles are very different than any other doodle. Most doodles, like an Aussi Doodle, are a combination of one dog (in this case an Australian Shepherd) and a poodle. They’re generally one or maybe two generations deep, so there are lots of inconsistencies in coats, shedding, degree of hypoallergenic levels, temperaments, builds, health and disposition.
Authentic Multigenerational Australian Labradoodles are a breed created in the 1980s by a group of professionals wanting service dogs for highly allergic or even asthmatic people. They settled on the 6 breeds that formed the Australian Labradoodle (ALD), which are, the poodle, labrador retriever, american cocker spaniel, english cocker spaniel, curly coat retriever, and irish water dog. This gives them a great reputation for being healthy dogs, because you’re not having strong representations of any of the 6 breeds in the line anymore. But we do extensive health testing for any of the main health issues that were prevalent in any of those 6 breeds to be extra safe.
My dogs are all multigenerational, meaning they go many generations deep of just pure ALD bred to pure ALD, with zero infusions of any other breed. My puppies are all 5-7 generations deep, and that’s a big deal. It gives very consistent temperaments, demeanours and dispositions, coats, and health. They don’t shed, and I have clients that were EXTREMELY allergic to dogs (like go to the ER allergic) that have 2 of my dogs who sleep with them.
I belong to the finest regulatory body over the precious Australian Labradoodle breed, and we follow strict guidelines to be a member. I am proud to have both the Champion and All Star Breeder level within WALA.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would hit several of the many beautiful trails in the area for hikes with the dogs. We’d of course go to Pikes Peak and spend a day at the Garden Of The Gods. We’d hit the Castle Rock Outlet mall, the Olympic Training Center and Denver Cherry Creek area. The rest of the time, we’d be playing with and training puppies! There’s nothing like puppy therapy!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Limiting my shoutout to just one is hard! My Dad and Step Mom were entrepreneurs, and spent years pouring into, teaching and encouraging me. My Dad jokes that I don’t pay him nearly enough now as my full time consultant.
But I also have to thank my incredible Australian Labradoodle breeder mentors and friends. Janet Bainbridge, Jen Carlson, and the group of 15 other breeders that I meet with regularly on zoom. We are all like minded breeders that strive to be professional, knowledgeable and produce a top quality product. In our bi-monthly zooms, we cover a different topic each time, and have a strong support system anytime we need it.
