Meet Kimmie Garner | Founder / CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimmie Garner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimmie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose this career in 2015, after learning that the majority of the skin products we are sold as ‘safe’ are actually toxic and dangerous.  My daughter had a severe reaction to a product that is branded as ‘natural’, but a harmful ingredient (that is banned in most other parts of the world) was in the product she used.  She was swollen and sick for several weeks – the toxins were stored in her liver and kidneys…  After this incident, I decided I would start making our skin products.  As I dove deep into my new hobby; it became a passion.  After two years of research and development, Luxious Lemon LLC was born.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always taken my position in this company as both artist and chef.  Each product I make is based on a vision of finding the best ingredients, perfecting a recipe, and then sharing this creation with an amazing niche that wants to turn their daily routine into selfcare skincare sessions.  I never just put something together to sell – I take my time to handmake a unique artisan skinfood product.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would go to the hidden gems of our chosen city (I especially enjoy towns with preserved history and architecture).  We would stay in a cute vacation home rental within walking distance of local restaurants and shops.  We would tour the secret nature locations and take a bunch of pictures.  We would later visit a local coffee shop (I enjoy a good iced tea or coffee no matter the weather or time of year – an iced drink is always the vibe).  We would then stroll through local shops for unique finds and giggle as we take pictures in hats that look funny on us.  We’d join that town’s community Facebook pages before our trip to learn about all the hidden treasures.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

The person who also deserves recognition for this business’s success is my husband, Jason. He has supported me 100% from the very beginning.  He encouraged me to leave my corporate leadership background and go all in on this business.  In his spare time, he makes products with me and he is always there for me to be able to bounce off creative ideas and think through problem solving events.

What book helps/influences you most in my business?

The book that helps me the most is The Bible.  As any entrepreneur knows, the business-owner path has its fair share of ups and downs.  When our own journey has been met with financial struggles, moments of fear, and doubt, my faith has always helped me to keep climbing.
