We had the good fortune of connecting with Krisanna Bonebrake and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krisanna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’m really inspired by women and our relationships with our bodies. As someone who is chronically ill I often think about how we perceive our bodies to betray us and how we could sometimes be perceived as betraying our bodies. I like to emphasize these musings with repeating themes of butterflies and metamorphosis in my work.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Nothing in my life has ever come easy. My art is no exception. Being self taught and 100% owned and operated by myself has greeted me with tons of learning curve. My business was born out of opportunity and necessity during the pandemic when I lost my job, and there are themes of perseverance woven into my work to emphasis the importance of continuing on even when things get hard, or even when things become unknown and uncomfortable. My brand is about concepts beyond just persevering though, my work is meant to inspire ideas of self love and self acceptance which speaks to my desire for us to thrive instead of simply survive.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Infinite Monkey Theorem for froze, Cart Driver for pizza and oysters, Avantes for mix and match food court happy hour with city sunset views, and out to a show at Red Rocks. Definitely brunch at Denver Biscuit Company and a picnic at Cheesman.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The entire Colorado (specifically Fort Collins, Loveland, and Denver) vending communities. It wouldn’t be without my fellow vendors at farmers markets, festivals, pop ups, etc that I’d still be here doing this work.
