We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristen Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristen, is there something you believe many others might not?
I do not believe in the theory “Work really hard and you will reach all of your goals.” I do think working hard is immensely helpful; that hustle will most certainly get you places and spaces, BUT, people work their whole life as hard as they possibly can and still are not reaching their ultimate goals. I am always 100% in, I truly give it my all and hustle daily…yet…I still was not able to reach my ultimate goals in my previous position working a 9am-5pm. I quit my high paying Regional Clinical Director position to start at the bottom and work for myself. There was not much further I could go from that position without owning my own company. I have BIG goals, I could not reach them in that role, no matter how hard I worked.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a Realtor for the greater Denver Metro. What sets me apart from others I would say is my authenticity. I am myself, 100% of the time and I think that really shows in my marketing, social media and the face to face interactions I have with my clients.
Everyone knows a Real Estate agent, right? So, I try to stand out as much as I can by being myself. I make tons of videos so others can get to know me much deeper than a photo & bio. They can hear me, feel my passion and really see me at work. Additionally, I want to work with people who are like minded, maybe share similarities. I want people to choose me because they want to work with me. I have never been in a career where I can utilize my creativity so greatly as I can with my Real Estate Business. Besides the writing of contracts, everything else about your business can really be done however you would like to do it. I have never really been one to follow the pack, if others go right, I go left.
Prior to Real Estate, I worked in Healthcare for 15 years. I started out as a Certified nursing assistant and went on to obtain my LPN, RN, BSN and lastly my Masters in Business with a Healthcare emphasis. I have been in leadership roles for most about 10 of those 15 years. I have managed upwards of 200 employees at once and really enjoyed doing so. I love being a nurse and I love helping others. During the pandemic, I was the Director of Nursing in a 120 bed Long Term Care facility and 30+ residents from my facility alone passed from COVID. The horror it caused the families, the staff, really just the devastation across the board was nothing I had ever seen. I was a hospice nurse for many years and this was nothing like that. I felt quite bit burnt out and needed a break. After the pandemic subsided and my building was COVID free I left to join an accredited Urgent Care as their Regional Director. I was making the highest salary of my career and the promises presented to me in this role were nothing I had been presented before. I had lots of opportunity for growth and I knew I would get there, there was no other option than to continue to rise and be successful. Unfortunately the work environment was the most toxic I have ever encountered in my life and while I tried to remain positive, upbeat and optimistic, I was ultimately beat me down to the breaking point I needed to finally hit the F*ck it button and quit. I left my 150K salary job and started my own Real Estate business with no guaranteed job security (such as I had experienced in healthcare) and no income in sight. I didn’t know it then, but the horrendous experience I had at this urgent care created the pathway to push me into the risk of starting my own business and it was the best worst experience to ever happen in my professional life!
In my first year of being a Realtor I made it into the top 20 top producing agents at my 800 agent brokerage, received the fastest growing agent award & the rising star award. The year is still not over, 3 months left to kick butt!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definingly Los Chingones, their tacos are delicious and who doesn’t like that parried with a pitcher of delicious spicy margs?! The entire RiNo area in Denver is my favorite. I love all the art and culture. We also would certainly hit up places such as Meow Wolf, Red Rocks, and RMNP.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother,
She has always encouraged, motivated and uplifted me in all aspects of my life. She has set a great example of what a strong, independent and kind woman looks like. I always say if I could be even half the person my mother is, I’ll be doing great!
She always says she’s my biggest cheerleader. She’s legit my #1 hype woman, I cherish her.
