We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristiana Karlin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristiana, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
When starting a business, a move, or any change that involves something new and challenging it is imperative to continuously embrace learning and growing through books, webinars and any other forms of education. In that, the answer that presents itself is what our company is always suggesting in the training that we engage in which is to work on ourselves more than we do our business. Of course, it is easy to go down the “rabbit hole” and dive in thinking that a self-help book, motivational speaker or any other course will be the answer to your success, but you have to balance it by having a proper plan, schedule and commitment.

Having the thirst for improvement and drive to practice and development is what I believe gets anyone, especially myself to the level is what I choose daily, and I believe that who I am becoming is the greatest accomplishment for not only has it helped on a personal level, but it has also transformed my business which in turn, contributes to my community. We are in the business of changing lives through education. The more I master only enables to do even more for others.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our Wine, Women & Wealth and Money 101 classes open to the public. These events are complimentary and focused on financial education that helps Middle America navigate through the confusion and make the best decisions in their futures. I know that other companies offer books and lectures, but our unique events are not a sales pitch or information gathering tactic. We ask for feedback at the end our presentations, but only serves as a way for us to pinpoint how we can better serve our guests.

Since I started with Five Rings Financial as a guest initially, I know firsthand that the model is unimposing, and specialized for the needs my family had. Because they invited me to go to the National Training Camp, I got to see firsthand a completely different culture of people from all walks of life. They spoke about how they never imagined that they could have a career that impacts community and serves as an exciting option to leave a 9 to 5 and be able to have a lifestyle that is what dreams are made of. Being an educator in a Title 1 school for about a decade, I didn’t have any options for surpassing my salary unless I got a second job doing something else like bartending which was what I did before I started my family. My retirement plan was to be in the classroom until my final days. Either that, or a “van by the river” and neither of those options sounded great.

It has been quite a challenge to change gears and recreate myself, but despite my fears and doubt, I have been supported and taught the best approach and know that if I keep moving forward, I will reach my goal to be an agent that gives people hope and peace of mind with the amazing opportunity Five Rings Financial provides.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am still a tourist of sorts, but my favorite spots to visit are the mountains for hiking or bike riding. My sons and I love taking our dog out to the state parks to enjoy the beauty. When we come back into town, we love getting treats at a place called, Kaluka, where we can get Boba tea and Mochi donuts. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming, and the service is fantastic.

For my appointments with clients and power partners, I love going to “Sweets of Inspiration” for their delicious and affordable sandwiches that are hand crafted with care. The owner is one of the most driven and friendly people I am honored to call friend. She has been a successful owner of this icon for over five years and have won multiple awards for her catering, specialty cakes and exceptional treats. She made our cake with logo for our ribbon cutting in the Westminster Chamber and it was not only beautiful, but it was also delicious. Our family doesn’t always like cake, so for our birthdays, we like to have pies. They make the best tasting pies we have ever had, and they always make sure they are a special addition to our celebrations.

I encourage visitors to go to the museums downtown as well. It was a bucket list visit of mine to go to the Molly Brown House and it was such an incredible place full of her history and character that I will always regard her as one of my heroes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our reading list is ongoing and the support that I get from our company, networking groups and non-profit organizations is incredible. The most recent discovery that has given me an opportunity to grow is attributed to the teachings from Mel Robbins Podcast and books. She has devoted herself to providing viable solutions and practices that help with many issues that entrepreneurs, as well as everyday people face. It is quite a positive source that I have become dependent on for it offers strategies that is obtainable and realistic which is most effective. I am reading “The Five Second Rule” and it already has made an impact on my craft.

I would also like to praise my team that is comprised of people that have tirelessly prepared trainings, coaching sessions and outlines for our members and guests as well. They have embraced the role and because of their devotion, I have learned and advanced to a level I never thought possible.
