We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyle Cockram and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Over the years as I worked for other companies and grew in maturity and skills I realized that I had a strong desire to coach, teach, and mentor men. My passion of wanting to help others in my community and give back to the community also grew. I began to formulate a vision of using my trade knowledge and skills to impact the people in my community in a positive way. I realized that starting my own business would help bring that vision into fruition through coaching my own employees as well as utilizing our skills together in a volunteer setting to give back. I truly care about the trades industry and want to show my community how beneficial the trades are and owning a business where we support people bringing trades back into the schools was another big push for me to branch out on my own.

What should our readers know about your business?
In our daily interactions with customers we’ve seen a lot of them be surprised and overly thankful by the level of care we give to them and their project and that also reminds us of why we are giving and will continue to give. Our crew has also experienced that; as they give back to the community it begins to flow into their daily lives – we all have more of a heart for our customers and they in turn have a heart for the people working in our community. The more you give the more you gain and our crew continues to see that as we work together.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d bring my friend over to the Academy for a tour as well as getting some hiking in on their base, they have some excellent hikes up that way. Pikes Peak (14,115 ft) is just to the west of the city limits so we can’t pass up experiencing that. Besides driving or hiking to the peak you can also take the Cog Railway, which is the highest and longest cog railway in the world. Some other cool outdoor adventure spots our city has that I’d try to squeeze in are Garden of the Gods, Cliff Dwellings, and the Cheyenne Mountains. We have a lot of gentrification going on in our city and some really neat commercial properties that used to be old schools that now house breweries, local bakeries, and other establishments that are fun to take visitors to.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely give credit to my parents for raising me to be a confident person who doesn’t see a limit to what I can accomplish. My wife also deserves a shoutout, without her I’m not sure I would have been able to have taken such a big leap with the business. She helps motivate me, keeps me on track, and runs our daily life so I have the space to focus on my business. She also helps me stay grounded in my faith and reminds me of our “why” when I get overwhelmed or consumed with the hustle.
