We had the good fortune of connecting with Lacrederick & Angelia Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lacrederick & Angelia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We’ve always had this itch to be entrepreneurs, but honestly, figuring out where to start was overwhelming. For a long time, we tossed around ideas but couldn’t quite land on something that felt right. Then embroidery came into the picture—it was this perfect mix of creativity and helping people bring their ideas to life. There’s something really cool about taking someone’s vision and turning it into something tangible they can wear or for a gift.

Of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. One of the first big hurdles was deciding on equipment. We went back and forth—should we go with a smaller setup, stick with home-grade machines, or invest in something commercial? Eventually, we decided to go all in with a commercial-grade machine and the software to match. It felt like a leap at the time, but it’s one of the best decisions we’ve made. Now, every day is a mix of excitement, challenges, and rewards—it keeps us on our toes but also makes the work feel meaningful.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our embroidery business is pretty straightforward—we work from home, creating custom designs for clothing, accessories, and gifts. What makes it special for us is the creative process and the personal connections we get to build with our clients. There’s always this sense of collaboration that makes the work feel personal.

Getting started wasn’t easy, though. We had to learn everything from scratch—how to use the machine, how to navigate the software, and how to actually run a business. On top of that, building trust in the community took time. People don’t just hand over their projects right away; we had to prove ourselves by consistently delivering quality work and showing people that we cared about their ideas as much as they did.

Looking back, it’s been a huge learning curve but also incredibly rewarding. We’ve learned how to adapt when things don’t go as planned and how to stick with it even when it feels tough. At its core, this business is about more than just embroidery—it’s about connecting with people and helping them express themselves in unique ways. Every project feels like its own little story, and being part of that process is what keeps us going.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If our best friend came to visit Monument and Colorado Springs for a week, here’s how we’d show them the best time ever:

Day 1: Monument – Explore downtown and visit the Air Force Academy.

Day 2: Garden of the Gods – Visit the park

Day 3: Outdoor Adventures – Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Seven Falls, dining at The Broadmoor.

Day 4: Local Gems – Mining Museum, explore Manitou Springs, and ride the Cog Railway

Day 5: Relaxation & Shopping – SunWater Spa, Manitou Springs and downtown Colorado Springs shopping/dining.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We don’t have a specific person to “shout out.” However, we would like to send a heartfelt “thank you” to our community and surrounding neighbors that support us and help to promote our business. Doing embroidery has allowed us to connect with some amazing people that we may not have encountered on a day to day basis. That is one of the things that we enjoy the most: connecting and meeting new people!
