We had the good fortune of connecting with Laidback Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laidback, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I love taking risks now, I remember when I used to be afraid to take risks but now I’ve realized in order to get what you want you have to get uncomfortable and take a few risks.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a musician I make great music I tell stories I make people feel good, dance, feel cool and I love to do it it’s fun, but it’s also a challenge. There’s been times that I wanted to give up but I’ve come too far to do that I can’t quit I won’t quit I think about where I started and about where I am now even though I’m not where I wanna be exactly and I’m way too far to just stop doing what I’m doing. It’s not easy but that’s probably why I like it so much because I like the challenge I like challenging myself like no one can challenge me like I can and that’s why I do it, that and because I make great great music. Learned a lot of stuff especially like networking and how important it really is like I wasn’t one to go talk to people too much I’m still not, but you have to get uncomfortable and do that you got to get uncomfortable in order to live comfortable if that makes sense. My brand Is sick of being broke (SOBB) and that’s not just financially it’s whatever type of way people feel like they’re broken, whether it be spiritually, physically etc and overcoming that whatever it may be is what we represent. It’s something that was inspired by the people around me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d go somewhere downtown to eat we would probably go back to another friends house just to hang out and kick it and catch up, then we would go to a studio so I can get some work in nothing too special really. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shout out every person that has been supportive of me on this journey, my family (my mom, Shai, Ang, my boys), my friends, and all my fellow creatives that continue to grow with me and push me to perfect my craft.
