We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Fooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
I’ve had a quote hanging on my wall or set as my phone wallpaper for 5 or so years now that says, “When God gives a vision, He’s faithful in the provision.” This has meant everything to me as I spent my fair share of years preparing myself and waiting to see my company come to fruition. In those painful moments of wondering why things hadn’t come together for me to live out my dream yet, this quote has comforted and encouraged me to remember there’s a bigger purpose at play.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my company, Light Speaks Loudest, in 2020 because it was what I would’ve needed back when I was a teen. At LSL, we’re known for encouraging 13-17 year-old girls through our subscription boxes that help them better love themselves, others, and God. There are tons of subscription boxes out there for women, but ours is the first and only seasonal box designed to serve a teen girl audience interested in living out their faith. One really unique thing about Light Speaks Loudest is that we include at least one product from a teen-owned business in every box!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is amazing, because Denver visits are the best! I love specialty coffee, so we’d have to visit Sapor Coffee & Concepts at least a few times throughout the week. The owners are incredibly kind, the drinks are amazing and the natural light in the shop is straight up gorgeous! I’d also make sure that we end up stopping by Dio Mio. I always say they have the best Italian food I’ve ever had outside of Italy. Outside of food (which I could talk all day about), I’m sure we’d spend some time in the mountains going on a hike or nature walk, and then pack a picnic to enjoy while watching a sunset at City Park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Although I’m not always great at it, I try to keep a growth mindset in all areas of my life. And because of that, I’m a huge fan of mentorship! (At one point, I was even juggling four or five mentorships at once!)

Whether through my college or church or day job or the Public Relations Society of America, I’ve been fortunate to find mentors — or “friendtors” as I like to call them — a few steps ahead of me who’ve taken an interest in helping me grow. Thank you for believing in and investing in me!
