Meet Laura Lee Johnson | Pop Culture Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Lee Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura Lee, what inspires you?
My work is prompted by pure curiosity. There are so many talented people that we are constantly listening to and watching but know nothing about. The entertainment world is shrouded in so much mystery, and I want to uncover those things that happen behind the scenes. I also watch lots of other creators who make commentary-style content, analyzing trends and interesting topics. Watching an amazing video that gets me thinking always makes me more motivated to create content in hopes that others will watch my videos and feel the same way!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The idea to create videos on famous people & organizations came to me long before I actually started making them. I’ve always been someone with a lot to say, always thinking, always analyzing. However, it took me some time to become confident enough to post my thoughts for the world to see. Truly, I had to take a leap and risk looking like a fool, and I did sometimes! But I always found myself as a viewer with a million comments to add, and, finally, I decided to say something. The aim for my videos isn’t just to tell a compelling story or to list facts. With every video, I really want people to feel engaged and to be thinking and analyzing along with me. I hope that my commentary always highlights the nuance of our world and of each and every person. If people can walk away with criticism, with opinions, and with empathy for others, I feel very satisfied with that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Having moved here from out of state, I feel like there is still plenty of this city for me to see! Of course, I love the outdoors, and in the winter I’m skiing at Copper Mountain as much as I can. After skiing, I absolutely have to have The Bull & Bush Pub’s french onion soup — It’s the perfect end to the day! Beyond those 2 essentials, I love to visit local shops, and I always end up making friends because everybody in this city is so welcoming and kind.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The people who deserve the most credit in my success are those who have listened to me throughout the years. Whether it was parents, teachers, or friends, having people who engaged me in discussion, cared about my opinion, and encouraged me to share it were key in my growth.
