We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Schmonsees and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Its a constant battle to try to balance work and life pressures. I have tried to prioritize life more as the work pressures and tasks continue to grow over time. I also try to let go of things more easily. I continue to work hard, but still loose opportunities at times because I prioritize enjoying life as well.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In 2017 my partner and I created a hand held 3D and ergonomic myofascial release tool out of modeling clay, then made plaster molds, and prototypes that we used on our patients. We had so much positive feedback, that I decided we needed to share it with others and began Wave Tools Therapy, which now sells the Wave Tool and a variety of other myofascial release and athletic recovery tools.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Boulder, CO many of the best sights including enjoying the outside and the surrounding natural areas. I would take my friend climbing in Eldorado Canyon, hiking in Chatauqua, we would eat delicious food along the Pearl St mall, and enjoy the Sunday famers market!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My father was paralyzed in a skiing accident when I was 10. His perseverance through adversity were incredibly inspirational to me as I grew up. As an adult this has helped me to have the courage to try even against odds. I became one of the first female certified Mountain guides in the US, went back to PT school in my 30’s, and began Wave Tools Therapy after inventing the Wave Tool with my business partner Jeff.
