We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Wieliczko and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
One of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make was moving to Colorado. I’m originally from Chicago and that’s where my family lives.
I knew that coming here would mean I’m starting new.
New friends, place to live, new job, new clients!
It was tough leaving everything behind, but moving to Colorado was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a professional makeup artist. I absolutely love what I do. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come especially after moving states and creating all new clients and relationships.
It was not easy starting out as a makeup artist. There’s tons of competition in this field.
I overcame that challenge by providing high quality work and using quality products that last all day/night.
A lesson I learned along the way is that you have to put in a lot of work! Wake up really early, be on your feet for 6+ hours, work on weekends even though I also work a full time weekly job.
You really have to dedicate yourself to your business.
I want everyone to know that I love what I do and I personally think I was born to be a makeup artist. I’ve been doing makeup since I was in elementary school practicing on myself, then in high school for all my friends, which followed by finally deciding to do this for a living!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my best friend comes to visit, I like to take her to shoes at Red Rocks, beautiful hikes, paddle boarding at Bear Creek.

When we want to go for brunch, my top two choices are always Snooze, Urban Egg, or Breakfast on Broadway if you’re a fan of bottomless mimosas.

If we want to catch a delicious dinner we would go to Smokin Fins for the best seafood, Yard house for amazing food and great mojitos or Virgillios if you love Italian food!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The one person who deserves credit and recognition in my story is my mom! When I decided to become a makeup artist and go to beauty school, she fully supported my decision and financially helped me get through school.
